Hey guys. I am going to buy either one of the consoles, but I cannot decide which! Anyone who can recommend any of them, and say why they recommend it? :)

Xbox 360 currently has more good games, but the Wii will have more eventually.

The 360 is more expensive, more dedicated to gamers. The Wii is cheaper with games for the whole family. OF course there are exceptions, but that's the general idea.

It's my understanding that the WII is only good for social gatherings, and they are simple games. If you want challenge or complexity, stick with the XBox360.

It's not an unfair assessment, and this understanding is based on the numerous declarations from Nintendo, along with their technological choices for their console, that show a clear targeting of a broader audience for the Wii than the traditional gaming crowd.
Games such as Wii Sports or Wii Play, along with a controller that does not have 16 buttons like the usual ones, and a conscious choice to forgo high technology for simplicity of use and cheap prices, is proof enough that the Wii does not target the same crowd as the 360 or the PS3.

And mind you, it's in no way a criticism, I only have a Wii right now. There are great complex games for hardcore gamers, true, but they do not define the console.

Can't you see the difference between the two ads, the message they're conveying, and the target they want to reach?

I bought a Wii for a variety of reasons. But I think that I'd prefer the concept of the Wii to be worked on by game developers. As far as potential goes, the greater-interactivity of the Wii will have better long-term benefits as a gaming system.

They really are two different systems. The Wii is more for people that have friends and a social life. Xbox/PS3 users are more for people that live in there parents basement.

Now I said that jokingly, but there is some truth to it.

And to add to that: the Wii will get you girls. The 360 and the PS3... not so much :)

Xbox 360 is a good console...simply because it has Gears of War which is a frigging AWESOME game to play with your buddies.

Wii though is more well-rounded. And chicks like to play it.

Gears of War is incredibly awesome in co-op mode. Best thing about the 360 I've seen, that game.

I got my kids an xbox 360 and it broke after 9 months use (i.e. the red ring of death - overheating issue). But its still under warranty so they are replacing it for free right now.

Guitar Hero II rocks as well. Lots of fun.

Oh and if it matters to you, Xbox360 makes a noticable sound whilst on most of the time, the Wii doesn't do that.

I've always had a Sony and Nintendo side by side (from psone onwards obviously) but after playing the Wii I don't like it too much, and I have Twilight on the GC...

Yeah, although i'm not too fussed about the whistles and bells. The free online is a plus and although the graphics aren't on par at the minute, when they get to grips with the programming i'm sure they'll be amazing.

And thats not even considering the like of FFXIII and GTA4.

But they've all got different ups and downs.
If I had had the money to get the PS3 when I got my 360... I would have.
I think they've all got something to offer but in this gen Nintendo has gone way too much towards the casual gamer, a few gems aside.

Actually, I have yet to find a game I would actually buy for the Wii. We find that after two rentings, we're not interested in playing that game anymore.

Get the 360, Halo 3 comes out in 4/5 days. The EA Sports Franchise Games look absolutely amazing. The games are better, plus it's not Nintendo.

I prefer the Wii in terms of fun factor and price, and, of the thre systems, it is the one that girls are most willing to play.

Is there really an advantage to a dedicated gaming console if you have a computer? I mean, my "console" has a 120+ key controller, plus an extra controller thingy that you move around and click even more button on, a kick-butt surround system, and it's portable so I can take it on trips and keep playing my games easily.

360 is fun but has horrible hardware. 50% fail rate? wtf?
Wii is pretty fun but the controller is too annoying for me, but it does have an appealing price tag.

I'd buy a Wii, in fact I plan to eventually. Unless I am completly mistaken there isn't much that an xbox can do that a high end pc could not do better. I imagine it would be pretty difficult to replicate the control scheme of the Wii on a PC, although I'm sure some bright spark out there is working on a Wii-esque controller that could be used with a PC. It couldn't be that hard could it?

Wii has several good games for hardcore gamers (Twilight Princess and Metroid Prime 3) as well as great games for casual gamers. Wii is better all around, but Xbox 360 is better if your a hardcore gamer and anyone else playing it is a hardcore gamer.

i have an XBOX360 but dont play it anymore because whenever i do the thing decides to give itself a heart attack and quit the game im playing just when im about to save it needless to say this is extremely frustrating and am about ready to sell the frigging thing because its so annoying.
