This is a restart of the original Oh Great Spirit story that I started. I am starting a different way because I don’t want to rehash the beginning.

It was a cold morning today, colder than most. The air was crisp and wet. The morning fog was rolling in. Hiawatha had spent all night sitting by the fire, in a spiritual meditative trance.
Many members of the Iroquois tribal council had stayed up all night. It was just at dusk when Hiawatha sat down at the fire. He was oblivious to the world around him. A couple of the members of the council had approached Hiawatha, but when they failed to get a response, they decided to leave him alone. However, they could not ignore him as he was ignoring them. There were still dangers in the world, and they must look after their leader while he was obviously in touch with the Great Spirit. And so the members took turns ensuring that nothing disturbed Hiawatha.
All of the members of the council were awake when the sun began its crawl up the horizon. Never had a meditative trance lasted so long. This was not natural. Hiawatha was not only up all night in the frigid night, but he sat at the fire with no clothes on.
Hiawatha had heard his people begin to congregate at a distance, yet he sat there unmoving, contemplating the future. The future held a great many things; deaths, disease, wars, hunger. But through it all, the future also held greatness. The Iroquois, his people, would lead the world, and those who chose not to accept their leadership will be swept aside.
Hiawatha stood without opening his eyes. As he stood, he heard the inaudible gasp of everyone, felt their eyes focus on him. He now had their attention. Now was the time for change. Instead of following the herds, they must establish a city. The Great Spirit had shown how the concept of a city will make the influence of the Iroquois people grow and prosper. Without turning or opening his eyes, he spoke.
“We must settle this land.”
The people began to murmur. Grey Fox responded. “Hiawatha, if we settle down to one location, what of the herds? When they move, we will be unable to get food.”
“Worry not Grey Fox, there will be other ways to feed our people. The Great Spirit has shown me many things. There are dangers in the world. Other tribes which would in time seek to destroy us.”
Now the murmur became louder.
Raising his voice slightly, “We must establish a place where we can cultivate our culture, where we can build places to worship, areas to learn, and most of all, provide training for our warriors.”
Eagle Feather spoke. “Hiawatha, we have never needed warriors before. Our way has been one of balance. If we live in harmony with these other tribes, why will we need warriors.”
Hiawatha knew that this was the fundamental way of things that must be changed. “Does the wolf attack the lion or does the wolf attack the sheep? The only way we can be strong is to be the lion, not the sheep.”
He knew he had won them over. Now was the time to forge his people into a might nation.

And so they founded their city and Hiawatha sent out a scout to survey the land. After many years, it was discovered that the Iroquois were isolated on an island. This concerned Hiawatha, for they had no way to cross the water.
After learning that they were all alone in the night, Hiawatha decided that he would direct his scientist to explore those areas that would help them learn faster. He directed them to learn Literacy.
Then one day it was discovered that the Russians had built something called the Great Pyramids. He had never heard of these Russians, nor did he know what the Great Pyramids were, but now there was an identifiable threat. About this time his scientist came back saying that they had discovered Literacy, and Hiawatha directed his capital to begin a great project, the Great Library, while the other 10 cities would build minor versions, or ordinary libraries.
==
His plan worked. As the libraries were completed, his people began to learn new things faster. Soon they discovered Bronze Working, them Map Making. With map making, Hiawatha could now build ships. He sent his ships out to explore the seas. He also directed two of his cities to build other great projects, the Lighthouse, which would help his ships navigate the seas, and the Great Colossus.
Soon the ships returned with news. In the east there was a tribe calling themselves the Aztecs. They also existed on an island, but this was smaller than the Iroquois’. It was only supporting 6 cities. The Aztecs where advanced people, knowing all sorts of technology, but they did not have Literacy.
Then the English were discovered in the west. The English were likewise advanced, lacking Literacy, but they knew of other tribes, the Japanese, the American, the Persians, and many more. It was just then that the Great Library was completed, and the Iroquois wise men learned all the secrets that the English and the Aztecs knew.
Soon after, the Colossus was finished. This caused a great celebration among his people, and the Golden Age was started. Hiawatha knew that this would not last forever, and if he was ever to launch a military strike to cement his rule, he must first build the infrastructure to sustain it. He built marketplaces and courthouses in all his cities so that the people may prosper. A happy person will bear much hardship later in life.
Hiawatha must now bide his time and pick his targets. According to his researchers, England is the strongest tribe in the known world. In fact, there are 3 tribes strong than the Iroquois. The one thing the Iroquois have going for them is that their infrastructure is more advanced than anyone else. Hiawatha knew that this advantage was a fleeting one, and must be used soon or it would disappear. Perhaps the Aztecs, isolated from everyone else, would make a good target to hone his military that he must now begin to build. And so Hiawatha convened a meeting of the tribal council….
