Okay a few things I'd like to say before I start... this game IS in progress so there can be delays in posts (not to long though, it's summer vacation and I still only have one job.) Following Sealman's idea (just wanted to acknowledge that.) I will put people's names in the story (not to many please!). Please no slander or jokes about countries, etc. Feel free to taunt the Civ 3 civs though... (Catheraine, your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of Elderberries! ;) )So here we go!

King Montezuma studied the map in his palace's conference room. Having recently developed literacy, and map making being a relativley new technology he was glad he had researched these technologies. Educated men and women were now working on a system that could be better then barter, or trading services for goods. An interesting idea, perhaps this could help the economy.

Montezuma reflected on the recorded history to date. His people had started out in a relativley fertile area, and had quickly expanded. It wasn't to long before they encountered the Iroqouis, and shortly thereafter the Americans. After using Jaquar Warriors to take the capitals, he had built up archers and conquered the rest. This gave him an advantage in expansion, as they were a good distance away, allowing him to have three points of expansion (the home Province, the American Province, and the Iroqouis Province.) Now the American Province and home Province (now renamed Monetzumaland for his wonderfull regime.) were merging creating a solid block of green on the map. The map traded for with the Russians allowed Montezuma to see a bigger picture. One he had gone up and down the length of the landmass, and gone North-East of the home territories, he would have the Russians pinned. All he'd have to do is get a technilogical edge on them. However his various advisors we're suggesting he build some swordsmen and move in now.

Attached is an image of Montezumaland, with the map in the lower corner as a good reference as well.

Here's an image of Russian Territory and more story!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Military, Domestic, and Trade advisors filed into the room. The Foriegn advisor filed in late, but not to late. After having some servents bring in dates, steak, and drinks they began to discuss the Russian Situation.

The Foriegn advisor pointed out relativley friendly relations with the Russians, and how it would produce a general sense of trust. The Trade advisor pointed out the recent connection of the American province to the Monetzumaland province via roads only a few hundred years ago (Recent in game turns.) connected the Monetzumaland province to the Iron resources of the American Province.

The Domestic Advisor pointed out that it'd be a little while, but it wouldn't take to long to produce signifigant numbers of Swordsmen.

Montezuma scratched his chin and wondered, in the meantime he ordred ten virgins sacraficed to Huitzicolopti (spelling?).

Montezuma walked out to the balcony of his palace and looked down on the crowds below. His Millitary, Domestic, Cultural, and the govenor from the town of Tiatihaucan flanked him.

"Today, I have given Govenor Aztca Teoxca the order to construct a new grand wall... a Great Wall, that shall span our contry making the defense of our cities stronger!" The speech continued, rallying the people. Montezuma also planted the seeds for support in a war against Russia without being obvious. It was time to build up an offensive force again. He'd need a Military leader for the offensive force. His speech transformed into how new ships would explore the seas for new Civilizations.

He went back into the palace and begain to discuss stratagey with his Military advisor.
"We'll have to send a galley up the coast to forge a path for our trade shipps to bring Iron to the Iroqouis Province. Then we can build Swordsmen in Montezumaland and the Iroqouis Province."
"If we look at the map there's a large lake inland here. Right above the North-East portion of Montezumaland. Swordsmen from the Iroqouis Province can cut East delivering a two-prong attack on Russian territory."
The Foriegn, and Domestic advisors filed in.
"Foriegn Advisor, would the Russians expect an attack?"
"No, we should have absolute surprise. They'll be caught relativley off-guard as I'd assume there are always troops in thier town."
"The people will not dis-approve of a surprise attack, plus our troops can maintain order if needed. Once we take a city, our troops can ensure a state of Marshall Law."
"Then let us prepare, build some Barracks and build Swordsmen right after."
"Yes sire." The advisors chimed in.

Montezuma normally hated going through the papers given to him by his advisors, but these pleased him. Veteran Swordsmen were being built in good numbers, gathering at Mount Lincoln named in honor of the American's Leader. Two cities in the Iroqouis Province, Salamanaca and a coastal town were connected to the Iron in the American Province. A Right of passage agreement had been aranged with Russia allowing the trading ships to go from ports in America to Ports in the Iroqouis Province. Perhaps he could deploy his troops within Russian Territory before lashing out...

The Foriegn Advisor came running to Montezuma the Fourth, and handed him some notes.

"A New Civilization?! Send a diplomat at once!"
Monetzuma, wondered if this new Civilization... known as the Zulus could give them contacts to other civilizations... surely they could. However they were on a continent not far from his American Province. This alarmed him. A Few months later, he had gotten a hold of (diplomatically) the Zulu map and had contacted the Babylonians. Perhaps he should prepare for a war with the Zulu. His Swordsmen in Russia were almost in place, soon "Mother Russia" would feel the wrath of Aztec Steel!
----------------------------------------------
Zulus are Yellow, Babylonians are Red (so I assume no Egyptians or Romans... Now I played with all civs, except for two or three (everything was random for Civs, even mine.)

Montezuma laughed with pride. His troops had taken Moscow, and St. Petersburg... and he knew that many more Russian Cities would sit under the Aztec Banner. The Foolish Russian Civilization was still in the middle Ancient Age, and he was in middle of the next age! Soon a large portion of the continent would be added to his empire. He'd then go about colinizing the rest of it. He had recently come into contact with numerous civilizations and had greatly added to his world map. Most of the other Civilization's origens were in harsh desert like enviroments, if not mostly desert, not lush like the origens of Civlization on his continent.
Montezuma continued reading the reports as they streamed in.

-----
The Only Civs that were never in the game were actually Persia and Japan. The Image below was taken when I captured St. Petersburg... looks like I had funny timing.

Montezuma stared at the world map, looking for other places to colonize on his continent. The Russians had been quickly over-run by his great-grandfather. He had dispatched a man by the name of Leonardo to build a workshop that would allow his troops to be upgraded at a far cheaper price. Within view of the throne room's window one could see a new chapel being built by a Michelangelo. Early in the war with Russia a War Acadamey had been built next to the palace, a man by the name of Sun Tzu had some ideas on Warfare and wasa putting it to practice.
-----
Note I'll pretend that the Japanese and Persians (as they are note in the game) populate a few cities Between the Iroqouis Province and Russia (Now an Aztec Province)
-----
Montezuma looked down on the War Acadamey watching the Musketmen drill. The Millitary advisor certainly liked his new toys. His Scientists were trying to unlock the secrets of economics, perhaps that'll get his economy back into line which would then allow for better research. He had to get ahead of the world, more then he already was. He decided it was time to start planning on how to deal with the Zulus, and shortly thereafter the Babylonians. He needed some units that could be strong, and fast. Horsemen weren't cutting it in wargames simulating war with the Zulus. He'd have to have some armoured horsemen, or find a way to give them gunpowder weapons like muskets.

From 1470 to 1475 (no real Anarchy period gamewise), the Aztecs experienced a brief near-Civil War. (I switched Republic and Democracy for tech purposes, and made a Republic less corrupt then a Democracy (as most free nations are technically Republics, not the literal Athenian Democracy).

Montezuma, had decided to end the war by agreeing to a form of Republic with the King as a figurehead. His Nephew, a popular leader of the Republicans, had held them back from a Civil War and gained popularity not only on his side, but amonst the Royalists as well. Also named Montezuma, he had been elected President. (We'll now follow the President, until (if ever) we switch governments again.) President Montezuma studied the reports, Cavalry units were starting to be deployed. The Babylonians had just built a city southwest of the Russian Province. He would have to take care of that, as no one had the right to colonize the Aztec Continent other then the Aztecs. Also the Zulus had set up a city at the southern end of the American Province in a Tundra Forest. The Bablyo-Zulu Continent was not far, and it was not to large. It would make a great contribution to the country to conguer that Continent. Conquest of the Zulus, and later the Babylonians had always been popular with his Uncle, and was discreetly discussed in Parliament all the time. He had to prepare for an Invasion. For the third time in Aztec history, an offensive force was to be constucted, but this time a mobile one. Besides he had to win against the Spork Party, and a good succesfull war would ensure victory.

President Bob Dole Smiled a smile the likes of which no tea cub had never been within two feet of. Troops were in Zululand and the Zulu wanted them out of thier territory ASAP. He'd fix that, by moving the Zulu Territories boundries. Cavalry were ready to take most of the cities, as they were almost all coastal cities. Time to break some rotten eggs!:D

Bob Dole had lead the Aztecs into a third age, thus causing the previous age to be known as the Middle Age. New "Rail-Roads" were under construction while most of the other civilizations were still working on Chemistry. Bob Dole was the first President of non-Aztec decent. The Aztecs had long since assimilated the Iroqouis and Americans to thier way of life, and had adopted the Russians as well. However within the next century things would probably come to some sort of movement to bring rights to all the other citizens (hint:Once Industrialization is discovered I'm building Universal Suffrage). His Vice-President, also an American, chuckled evilly as he played darts with a picture of Shaka.

"Mr. Lee, soon we will have a war with the Zulus. The quicker it is over with the better. Then, we can plot against the Babylonians. Once we secure the continent with a few more cities and culutural improvements we will have a second continent to ourselves!"
"Sir, I am worried about those Privaters, won't somebody figure it out?"
"Nah, all we have to do is to make sure they keep going after Zulu transport ships. We have to keep them from expanding."
"Aye Sir."

Bob Dole went to the telegraph room. He gave the order to send a message to Washington to dispatch the order to attack the Zulus. Aztec Cavalry started landing on Zulus shores and quickly took most of the coastal cities, more Cavalry were quickly sent in to battle by using these recently acquired coastal towns. Soon much of Zululand was over-run, however Zimbabwe was still a bastion against the Aztecs. Four Impi units had been destroyed, along with the only Pikemen of the town. Another Cavalry unit went into attack an Impi Unit, from thier posistionsthe other Aztecs saw the attack fail. A Fresh unit of Cavalry rode up and charged in just as the last men of the attack were killed. The damaged and disordered Impis were quickly cut down. The unit kept on riding securing the town, and the rest of the units rode into to reorganize and lick thier wounds.

Elsewhere in one of the first towns to fall, Two Impis and Two Settelers (in the same square) were trying to sneak past the occupied town of Ibabanago. One of the Cavalry units picked of the first Impi unit and rode back into town. Then an Elite Unit charged forth, killed the last of the Impis with no casualties and captured the two Settelers. The leader of this unit, Ahuitzotl, broke them up into four groups of workers. It wsn't to long before he received word that he'd been promoted to a General, and was being ordered to collect aides and minor generals to for man army, whose ranks were to consist of Cavalry.

The Zulus being, badly decimated had only five cities left The Largest of which, and now Capital, was one of the two coastal cities built in the frozen forests south of the American Province. Soon history would show if Shaka was a coward, or a true leader.

The Zulus had been Vanquished. Now onto the Babylonians... the only problem was building some barracks, reducing corruption, and a harbor, and railroads in the conquered terrotory. President Andropov called in the Secretary of Defense Big Baboon, and Secretary of Transportation Ivanova.

"Ivanova, how long will it take to build railroads connecting the Zulu cities."
"With Railroads still a very new concept, a small amount of Zulu workers, but small Zulu territory it'll take us a moderate amount of time."
"We must Pur... excuse me. Forget Railroads... let's just connect the cities via roads and multiple harbors... we just need the resources for now. We're still at peace with the Babylonians and will quickly over-run them with superior numbers."
"Let us begin with the Sec. of Defense's plans... but work on railroads just the same. Build and purchase numerous harbors and start producing workers like crazy."

President Andropov got the last reports dispatched from Zimbabwe, the Zulu road system was still intact anh a harbor was already under construction. The Babylonains were still using Ancient units and would not be able to put up much of a fight. Also due to the Alliance against the Zulus the Aztecs and Babylonians shared in the later part of the war, the Babylonains would not expect a lightining strike from thier Cavalry units and the Cavalry Army. Preparations were well under way. France had signed a Mutual protection pact with the Aztecs also in the later part of the war which decreased the World's opinon of the Zulus making the Aztec-Zulu war look better in thier eyes. Now for the Execution of Shaka. Taken out of Ancient Texts was the Ceremony for Sacrafices to Huitzicolopti, originally Human Sacrafices was the method for Execution to be given to Shaka. Nowadays the Aztecs didn't commit Human Sacrafices, instead they fasted, gave up certain Luxeries for periods of time, or spent a couple of hours in religious warship of the religion that had swept the land in starting in 100 A.D. and fully affecting the empire a few centuries later. However a large portion of the "Polythestic" religion survived on the Eastern shores of Montezuma land and the lands of North Montezumaland. The religions lived in harmony with each other, with the "Polythestic" (Author's note I do not know of the name of the Aztec religion so I'm calling to one in the story in the era of the story "Polythestic" (with the quotes) as I do not wish to give it a wrong name.) not literally Monothestic, by having one god (Huitzicolopti) represent all the gods in one. The "Polythestic" religion never commited Human sacrifices anymore, and rarely did even Animal sacrafices anymore... they just fasted more often and on major holidays spent many hours straight worshipping with only a break for bread, water or wine, and for the use of Washrooms. However in Aztecland a law was written due to thier violent past. (And it's continuing culture of world domination schemes ;-) ) They have a law where warcriminals, mass murderors, and other major criminals are executed through an Ancient Aztec Human Sacrafice ritual. The primary religion of the Aztecs would normally disagree, but Aztecs (note in Civ 3) were Aztecs and found the idea acceptable. In the ritual a primitive form of Open Heart Surgery would be preformed without intent of helping the victim.

Andropov wannted war between the other nations to occur, he wanted them to waste resources and possibly wipe one of themselves out. He did not want to be involved however. Perhaps a massive Trade Embargo on the English, who were surrounded by Several Civilizations could conjure up hatred of the other nations throughout England, as well as making the other nations less reluctant with a War against England. If he could get most of the other nations to go along England would be unable to go on the Offensive against the Aztecs which would then allow the Andropov to get nations to declare war on the English without worry. Maybe the French could stir up some dust with Romans there to help the French throw more dust into England. However he had to read the Teotihaucan times as a Big Giant Teddy Bear had just caused massive destruction of Private Property and a large toothpick store.

The New President, a Montezuma, smiled. 21 Cavalry Units were ready to strike deep into Babylon, and a few Cavalry Units were already in the heart of that country "coming back" from eliminating the last Zulu City using the right of passage that the Babylonians had agreed to. In addition a Cavalry Army was deployed and ready as well, almost completely Elite (only one Vetern unit in it, and two Elite). Reinforcements from the Mainland, and existing Cavalry south in the Bulk of Zululand would total to around ten to fifteen more units, and the cities of the new province of Zululand would be able to produce Cavalry as well. The cities of the Aztec Continent were still infested with two Babylonian cites. Propaganda was using the fact the Babylon thought it had the right to Colinize on the continent of the Aztecs, and that they were the usual meriad of things Propaganda claims. Babylon had nothing better then Spearmen and Warriors, along with thier Bowmen. Now was the time to strike!
