Welcome to the Civilization Revolution forum! :)

For some info about the game, check out the game announcement (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=229096) and the gallery (http://www.civfanatics.com/gallery/browseimages.php?c=26).

Also check out this recent GameSpot video (http://www.gamespot.com/video/941683/6177587/the-sid-meier-leipzig-games-convention-2007-interview) in which Sid Meier talks about the game at this year's Leipzig Games Convention.

It'll be way better then Civ2 played on the ps1...
(I bet that's a real collector's item now... I'll sell for $10,000, or highest bidder.)

I'll wait and see. This could be the game that is either one of the best in the Civ series, or it could be the one that embarrassed Firaxis.

Currently, the only redeeming quality I an see is Cleopatra looks much better. :p

It will suck because it's being designed for 12 year olds. Just look at the leaderheads, the look and feel of the game... along with developer comments that they're "looking for a different audience" for Civilization. In other words, hardcore fans like ourselves are getting thrown under the bus so they can appeal to the lowest common denominator: Stupid people.

They shouldn't even have prostituted the good Civ name by attaching it to this embarrassment.

You're right. The main goal of this game to reach business success, not good game experience.

What a horrible evil company! How dare they try and make money!! :crazyeye:

Wait a minute.. Oh, that's right! They won't make any money if the game is "not good game experience". ;)

I think it is a brilliant move - can't wait to beat newbs over the xbox at something a bit more intellent than FPS!

Console gamers play for different reasons than PC gamers. This is reflected in the kinds of games. Mario wouldn't do all that well on the PC. Civ, the way we know it, wouldn't do that well on the console. Miyamoto and Meier are both some of the most brilliant game designers, and I've enjoyed both their titles.

I see nothing wrong with Firaxis trying to get a little more money from console development. It just means they can funnel more of that money back into new PC products. Why not let them adapt to a new audience? Get that money.

If this game is better than Civ4, I want it- on a PC!
If it's not, I'll go on playing Civ4 forever.

The initial layout looks allright to me. I mean we all were disgusted by 3D concept of CivIV when it first came out, but now we love it. So we'll love this even more if the key features of Civ are preserved.

I already loved the return of the domestic advisors. That was missing in Civ IV big time.

The 360 has proven to have a significant number of players interested in strategy games. Look at Catan and Carcasonne - two strategy board games on XBLA.

I think this is a great idea, and I'll definitely try out the demo when it comes around on XBL.

Here is the thing, If Sid said this will be the game that he dream to do,then it means it is going to rock. Now you have to think in averege, most people ain't like us that can stay playing 40hrs straight, that's the why the games are going to be shorter (Maybe that way I might actually be able to see the special unit for the US). In my opinion this game will be alright (maybe you will hate it but you have to try, after all it is Civilization)

Dude, relax. The PS One version is what lured me into this time and life destroying addiction, and I'm sure some new fans/victims will come in through this thing. In any event, don't go nuts over this; we'll need these guys in the future to write the Civ 5 strategy guides while we're at work.

People need to stop going on with the PS3 vs XBOX360 war :) Its just too bad they have closed networks so you cant play cross platform, but its for the security of the console. I have a PS3 and I'm happy with the performance and the games. PS3 gets plus points for having free online support though. I really hope the PS3 community will be friendly and fun to hang out with. I will sure need a lot of pointers and would be happy to get some people on my friends list to discuss tactics with.

The picture lagged on my friends X360. On PS3 the movement looks smoother.

civ rev isn't out yet, so it would be very difficult to predict wether or not it would alg on the xbox.

But if your just trying to point out that the xbox is inferior on any game, then i'd agree.

But of course with that big time military pay :D. Being a game connoisseur (and being well known for enjoying games), I have been called upon to test many handheld games. Yes, that includes Pokemon.

The shows aren't good, but the games aren't as bad as people are led to believe. I know, a 21 year old that plays Pokemon. But after going to my high school I've developed very thick skin. :goodjob:

EDIT: I know some of you are thinking of asking, and the answer is yes. I've "caught them all" in the Red version

I just played the demo and it seems to be a stripped-down version of civ that will be good for multiplayer and nothing else.

that's not what I got out of it....its a version of Civ with all the unnecessary stuff removed and the game itself still intact, more action packed, and just as fun :)

Haudi,

New Civ looks horrible. I got thoughts about ancient Rainbow Island from Commodore Amiga 500 because of those awful pastel colours. How can you engage bloody wars in environment like that?

I don't know anything about the functions of the game yet, but I want to say this: If the loading times increase as much as they did between Civ3 and Civ4, you can't play the bloody game even if you had a supercomputer.

I like to play my civ on stand alone installation. If the new version is preferring multi player functions, I pass (If I can...).

After all Civilzation serie has been the greatest game of all, and I have played it a lot (far too lot...). I hope developers won't ruin the fantastic game.

I've been addicted to the demo for the last several days.

I've been playing since Civ 2, and to me Civ Rev is spot-on for the console gamers (of which I am primarily these days, as I own all 3 major consoles but haven't upgraded my PC in years...), without being to dumbed-down for the core audience, imo.

It cuts some of the micromanagement (but not all, as you can still customize your city worker's priorities, etc.), but leaves the game feeling extremely stream-lined and just plain fun. While the the faster pace may feel a bit less epic, it also means I'll likely be replaying this game a lot more than past Civs, in which I'd generally only use a few different civilizations and play styles - in this game I can see myself trying out everything, as it no longer takes so long to play through.

The controls for the most part feel great (I do wish there was an option to make the zoom a toggle rather than require you to hold the shoulder button), and everything that a good Civ game needs is here. Can't wait for the full release!

the loading times are better than I remember from either Civ4 or 3. But this is not a PC game...I'm not sure you realize that. It is a 360, PS3 and DS game.

The loading time on the demo was indeed better than on civ4, i dont think the full game will be much worse.
