OK, so everyone knew this was one in the bag for Brazil, but although China didn't score, I was shocked at the quality of the game. They had a few chances and very nearly scored. I thought they put up a fighting performance, evena t the very end. This Chinese side was different to the previous game. They are one of self-confessed worst sides, yet they still tried so hard, and I think it's a credit to them they lost 4-0. After all, Saudi Arabia are supposed to be better than them, and they lost to Germany, a team of the class of Brazil, 8-0. WELL DONE CHINESE :D

Well, for a first-time appearance, I suppose China did OK. At least, it wasn't 0 - 8. :) Go China go! :goodjob:

No it would be better if Turkey won so that they could go through to the next stage...Although it would be nice to see China score a goal.

Being brazilian, i think I HAD to post here.

See, i see things quite differently; It's not that China played well... It's us that played horribly.

Of course, in the end, the talent was on our side in that match, and that made all the difference... but our defense is absolute non-existing, allowing that even a bad team such as China to have it's oportunities.

Problem is, the two years before the world cup were the worst streak of bad results in the history of our soccer. We finished the cup qualifying tournament in 3th position (after Equador), we lost lots of games (when before we had only lost one game in the whole history of WC qualifying), and the only team we were able to beat twice was Venezuela, the greatest "bag" in South America.

We even managed to loose 3 x 0 to Honduras once (no offense to the proud people of Honduras, but any soccer fan will understand the gap)... and they could have scored more.

We swiched coaches twice, a fact that is absolutely new in our history - coaches usually lasts at least from one cup to the other. This new one, Luis Felipe Scolari IS a good coach, and have quite a history of success in our teams, but his phylosophy demands exausting training and repetition, things that you can't quite have with the national team.

Also, some of our key players, such as Rivaldo, Ronaldo Gaścho and Juninho Paulista, simply doesn't seen to play in the national team as well as in their clubs (Rivaldo, specially).

Point is, Brazil is doing reasonably well so far because we have had no adversaries in our group, something that won't really change until the 2th round of the playoffs. It will be then that we will see what's what.

We still have time to correct the mistakes, and the unfortunate accident that have taken Emerson away from us allowed the opportunity for the coach to call Ricardinho, a much more skilled and talented player that in Brazil, almost unanimously, people agree that should have being there since the beguining.

If we manage to correct our defense, we have a shot in the WC. Things stay the way they are, people here (except for the real patriotic blind ones) won't be surprised to see our players at home a few weeks earlier.

Ufffhh... it got way longer than i imagined, but it felt good to spill it out.

regards :) .
