View Full Version : Story of the great Ottoman Kingdom
Doom666 Sep 24, 2007, 01:01 PM I'm starting this new scenario playing with Ottomans on a huge archipelago map. with around 70% ocean.
For a long time, the tribes collectively known as ottomans lived in around the great river valley, living peacefully, and never dreaming of greatness and glory. But then a young man from one of the more industrious tribes rose to power and managed to convince all of the other tribal leaders to abandon their simple lifestyle and unite as one Ottoman city, from which to expand to prosperous neighboring lands, and spread their influence and power to the unknown.
And so it was, that around 4000 BC a city was born, named Istanbul.

But what dangers lay ahead, only time will tell!
Doom666 Sep 24, 2007, 02:01 PM The only victory condition is conquests btw, so.. Should have my work cut out for me. :)

As time progressed, the industrious Ottomans managed to send away a settler with a well trained guard to the northwest, to colonize a patch of land along the river.
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee242/Doomitude/3.png
Another colony was established a while later, this time towards the north and the shores of a great sea.
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee242/Doomitude/4.png
All was not quiet in the wilderness however, as some of the first settlers had to find out. Strange little people with painted faces, and armed with axes came from the east and the west. The settlers at first were naturally thrilled at this discovery, but the thrill soon changed to horror as the strangers started stealing their livestock and attacking them at random.
Without fear, the empire continued growing and now even southwards, toward another large mass of water.

After a while, the barbarian village was found, and destroyed. None were spared to make an example of this unruly behavior. Little did they know that this act would fire up an entire war against the barbarian chiefs who controlled substantial cavalry armies.
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee242/Doomitude/6.png
Even with great war against the barbarians raging, the empire soldiers on, and expands into every direction.
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee242/Doomitude/7.png
Some of the later settlers are greatly relieved to discover another civilized people to the north.
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee242/Doomitude/8.png
Trade routes with them are established quickly.
The Ottoman empire has almost grown from coast to coast, and the barbarians are largely beaten by the elite armies of the empire. The only question remains, will the so far peaceful Iroquis settle for the smaller part of the island, or is there a storm in the horizon, waiting to claim the lives of many.

civverguy Sep 24, 2007, 06:27 PM What's the difficulty? I think you're doing pretty well. You might need to build some more settlers.
Quintillus Sep 24, 2007, 10:32 PM Indeed, you seem to be doing quite well. What year is it, may I ask?
Doom666 Sep 25, 2007, 08:46 AM Meh cant remember the difficulty.. :S Most likely the third one whatsitcalled. I dont really play the hard maps, i just prefer to take bigger maps with lots of civs. Overcrowded maps with only a few colonizing spaces, and massive amounts of barbarians make my heart shiver with joy.
ansar Sep 25, 2007, 08:59 PM You murderer!! :aargh:
(You settled on a cow.)
Quintillus Sep 25, 2007, 09:49 PM Also, which terrain pack is this? I don't believe I've seen it before.
Doom666 Sep 30, 2007, 04:33 AM It's on Womoks' terrain. (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21248)
I think the year is now soewhere around 500 BC.
In the following years, great achievements were reached.
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee242/Doomitude/happyhappyjoyjoy.png
The people were happier than ever.
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee242/Doomitude/barbcamp.png
Barbarians were defeated.
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee242/Doomitude/newage1.png
New technological eras reached.
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee242/Doomitude/zeus.png
Great wonders built.
It was only a matter of time before the Ottomans would rule the world!
lucashp Sep 30, 2007, 03:57 PM Awesome story, Are you going to build the knights templar?
civverguy Sep 30, 2007, 05:52 PM Meh cant remember the difficulty.. :S Most likely the third one whatsitcalled.
Do you mean regent?
Tad Empire_0_o Oct 02, 2007, 09:51 PM also I noticed in your screenshots.... why do you irragate everything? its just a waste untill you switch governments
Doom666 Oct 07, 2007, 06:10 PM Because mines are ugly, i'm used to doing it, and when it's done, i wont have to waste time doing that but instead make railway networks faster... =P
Soaring Tiger Oct 08, 2007, 10:51 AM Nice story!:goodjob: Will you update soon?
secretninja Oct 11, 2007, 10:25 AM good story keep it up! and i say u should knock the iroquous off the map. get a step ahead of the game, you know?
Doom666 Oct 19, 2007, 02:37 PM Might take a while.... After playing Civ 3 since 2001, its pretty obvious i needs a little diversity. :P
Just started Ogame again a few months ago, and i got a little fleet i dont want to lose. Also, i've been doing some work on the armageddon scenario in hearts of Iron 2. (Wants to take over russia with finland..) :crazyeye:
Doom666 Oct 19, 2007, 03:49 PM The age of barbarians and colonization ended in cooling relations with the Iroquois, because of the so called "cheating" that the ottoman king allegedly did in a friendly game of cards. Which is total BS ofcourse.. *cough*
In reality it must be because the Iroquois failed to colonize more territory, and are understandably arsey about it.
In short, Hiawatha told me to:
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee242/Doomitude/loser.png
The new age also brought with it the collapse of the old and archaic system of government, and the fall of the barbarians.

Theryman Oct 25, 2007, 08:10 AM You should probably get some galleys out and find out more about the world...
Doom666 Dec 04, 2007, 06:08 AM I might.. If the game save wasn't "accidentally" deleted by a demon.
What a surprising end to an empire. xD
