historically speaking, japanese industrial infantry, cavalry were close to american infantry. The one you designed look like musketman in 1600.

Yes they actually look like USA infantry as you can see in the movie "The last samurai" with Tom cruise or any japanese army books. But I like yours, why ? because with civilisation we write a total new story :)

No. Most civilizations weren't using war elefants, native american (including south america) certainly had no horse archers or knights either, nor swordsman. These are just examples to show that CIV is not about historical accuracy.
There is nothing wrong with historical accuracy, but it is not the most important aspect (if it actually is important at all). I like my asian units to not look european (not sure if I will go with Zervers japanese or danrells japanese units however, the latter being european looking).
