San Juan Pablo Cortez was sitting at his desk in the Office of Foreign Affairs. He had a problem. Queen Isabella of Spain was demanding an expansion of her domain and Cortez was given the task to complete it. But what to do? The Greeks were to the northwest, past the highest of Mt. Toledo. The Iroquios nation and India was located to the south, past the great Spanish Jungle. Azteca was to be found to the west. All known lands were discovered and settled and many brave Spanish sailors lost their lives attempting to find other lands.

Was the only option war? Though Cortez. While Spain was a fairly large nation, her military was smaller than her neighbors, although more advanced. No, war was not an option but what is?

Cortez continued to ponder this question when a messanger runs into his office. "Sir, barbarians have once again attacked our outlying cities. They have been crushed, as usual but the people are worried." "Thats the answer," screams Cortez, "Barbarians."

pardon all misspellings.
Cortez departs the captial city of Madrid and makes his way to the port city of Toledo, near the twin mountians of the same name. There, Cortez journeys into the dark back alleyways searching for a man he only knows as 'El Bandito'. He finds his quary, or should we say, El Bandito finds him and a meeting is arranged.

"I hear that despite the governor of Toledo, you in fact run the town." Asks Cortez.
"Si, How can I be of assistance to you, Senor?"
"Your Queen asks for you special skills in moving the Greeks off the eastern slopes of Toledo."
"Si, it is possible. It will cost you."
"Spain will meet your price and give you 50% of all loot that you that you recover from Argos."
"We will give you what we give you. And after we sack Argos, then what?"
"You are free to pillage and rampage the Greek countryside. But remember, Spain can not be tied to your actions."
"Agreed, Senor. Your next message from me will be accompanied with the head of the Greek Governor."

------

El Bandito and his men, board many small fishing boats and leave the Toledo Harbor. Greek sentries on the slopes of Mt. Toledo are watching the mountain passes, eager to stop the Bandit raids that Spain is unable to stop. Unknowing to them, the largest raid sails right past them and land outside of Argos.

Argos was founded by Alexander around the same time as Toledo. Both cities are located at key points, with Toledo the more stategic. Argos was meant to serve as a fortress against a 'traditional' attack by the Spanish Army.

On a dark overcast night, El Bandito and his men sneak into the city. Silently, they slit the throughts of the guards, asleep at their posts. Suddenly, an alarm is sounded, but it is too late. El Bandito and his men have already begun the destruction of the city of Argos. El Bandito proudly walks up the Govenors Mansion and barges into the bedchambers of the Govenor. The Greek Govenor is cowering under the sheets of his bed while his mistress stands defiantly infront of El Bandito with a knife in her hands. El Bandito grabs the knife and shoves her to his lieutenant, "For the men, my compliments." he says as he continues to approach the frightenend Greek. "Senor, be not afraid. Isabella would like to see you."

Cortez is back in his office when another aide walks in. "Sir, the Greek Port of Argos has been sacked and burnt to the ground." Cortez gets up and walks to his private dressing room wondering what evils he has unleashed. As he returns to his office, he spies a box atop his desk. He opens the lid and screams as the eyes of the Governor of Argos looks back at him.

Notes on the game:
I am playing the Govern and Make War mode with a few of my own modifications. The map size is either large or standard, Can't recall which and everything else is random including the civilization that I am playing, Spain.

Rome, Isreal and Zulu are nearby, although on a different continent. England has yet to be discovered but I know that they are around somewhere. Not sure of anyone else at this point.

Yep, Spain. Courtesy of the Govern and War Mod. I have stopped playing the game because the tech growth was a little out of hand. I am attempting to play around with the tech growth rate to find some balance that works better with my play style.
