Has anyone got it yet?
Finished it yet?
Any great stories from online yet?
If not... why not?!

I finished it earlier today on Heroic, you won't believe some of the twists!

I'm waiting until I can get it on my own in January.

A friend got it for the midnight opening, which I accompanied him to. We then proceeded to play co-op campaign for most of the night, completing it the next day. I like how the second player got to be the Arbiter throughout the campaign.

Decent enough game, though I'm far too used to PC FPS' to consider it anything other than average. Multiplayer is a blast however, it definitely shines there.

My impression of Halo 2 when I played it (during rehersal for the school musical, heck, we even started playing it DURING THE SHOW (off stage in a hallway outside of the theatre) near the end.

I went to the shop expecting to buy Halo 3, instead I got Halo Tournament 2007. Very disappointed with it. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy it and I did complete it and the multiplayer kicks ass but you just feel they sold out to the multiplayer crowd

So, I played Halo 3 for the first time the other week, and I was addicted. Started playing at 4 PM. At 9 PM, I noticed it was dark outside, and should probably stop playing, but it was so fun.

Halo 3 just completely reafirms my beleifs that all people want is completely bland copy and past FPSs that do nothing nerw and just stick to the old formula like theyle get some kind of skin rotting disease if they dare take a step away from it.

But two minutes before you just complained (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=6094444&postcount=17) you couldn't get into Team Fortress 2 because it wasn't like the format of previous online FPS :p

True, but what I meant was that even though not havinf the generic assualt rifle class is unique I just cant get into that, I still like a first person shooter where the primary "thug idiot mindless shooter" weopon is a gun, and not sone kind of rocket launcher ro sone other odd weopon, and TF2 didnt seem to have any kind of generic assualt rifle in it. Upon playing any of the halo games(specifically the first and third ones, the second was actually noteworthy) the whole game was bland and repetative, there was nothing unique about them, the story was complete hogwash and having good shooting mechanics just doesnt cut it for me anymore. They have to actually do something special or unique or have a good story, its not that Halo is bad from a purely gameplay stadpoint, its just very average and bland. But like I said, the biggest selling shooters seem to be the ones whoe follow this trend so I suppose give the people what they want. For me, as long as corporations like Valve are still around to make the kind of shooters I like then everyone can have whatever they want.

I don't plan to buy any consoles... I focus all my money on my PC. But I heard it is going to be ported to PC? I'll probably buy it then.

In the mean time, I'm reading the novels. I'm already reading the third one, "The First Strike"...

I do enjoy the novels. Not quite sure if they're canon or not but I think they're close.

New one's out soon too I believe.

I have a coworker that played all versions of Halo and have read the books. He said they do not conflict each other - Master Chief faced the same foes in the same places in the same order. The books added many more details in between.

Having played the demo for Halo 1, I can say that it is only a truly great FPS, on a console. It's nothing special or new for the PC.

It was still fun but I have plenty of better FPS games for PC.

steviejay
Nov 09, 2007, 04:23 AM
Rumour has it that the Gears of War for the PC is pretty good but yeah I agree, I prefer some FPS to stay on the console and not move over.

I'm actually curious to play HL2 to see what it's like with the roles reversed, going PC to console.

kcwong

You can record them using a TV-card - it can take input signals and save them as movie files.

Luckymoose
Nov 10, 2007, 11:53 PM
Or spend 50 bucks for 12 months of Xbox Live which is a rip off but sort of worth it.

Stylesrj
Nov 17, 2007, 10:23 PM
I'll see if fiddling around with the nearby computer's video card will do the trick

Then I might be able to transfer my screenies and films without forking out 50 bucks for Xbox Live

Wow, I never could've guessed to do that. The only thing that might help is the hills, and that's unlikely considering that the level is the flood, presuming it's in a dark, creepy city.

Stylesrj
Feb 03, 2008, 12:42 AM
Yes, well to find your way into the ship in the large area where the Elites say they're looking for Cortana, you gotta climb a large hill into the ship.

Never mind, that level was ridiculously easy. I didn't die once, and the flood was a lot easier than expected.

Feb 03, 2008, 08:23 PM
You need help in other levels, just ask. I finished it on Legendary in both single player and Co-op with 2 players.
Now I'm trying skull combos on Normal. Some levels are just hard, eg Mythic Skull on Normal, plus tough luck and catch...

What in the world happens after the Prophet of Truth is killed? Why do the flood turn on you? I missed the movie because my idiot friends decided they couldn't enter my house without me going up to let them in.

Youtube up the video or watch it again. Seriously, it can't be that hard right?

It's you fault if you spoil it for yourself.
The Prophet of Truth was about to activate the rings, which would kill all the Flood by depriving their source of food. Since Master Chief stopped him, they now have no reason to prevent them assimilating you.

Stylesrj
Feb 09, 2008, 09:47 PM
I didn't want to explain it as it's more complicated than that. You forgot the added part:

Johnson escapes in the Pelican and you try to as well and then Gravemind stops you with his huge tentacles
EDIT: Oops, messed up on who was in the Pelican

Also, if there is too many distractions while you're viewing a cutscene, press start or the Xbox Guide (I think) button. Both will pause the cutscene without disrupting it.
Start works, not too sure about the Guide button pausing cutscenes...

I don't get wh the Flood attacks you after helping you get there. I rescued Cortana, is this next level hard? "Cortana"

WARNING: ACTUAL Spoiler ahead.
Miranda doesn't escape, she dies. Johnson escapes. The flood helps you because Gravemind knows that he'll die if Truth activates the rings. He helps, thus allowing you to kill Truth. Now that there is no danger of the rings being activated he OMG BACKSTABS you.

The last level isn't that hard. It involves a warthog run at the end, or if you can find the mongoose, a mongoose run. It's quite fun actually as Arby helps you out by gunning

Red Door
Feb 12, 2008, 05:36 PM
Okay, the second-to-last level was pretty easy. Getting out was more difficult. It wasn't challenging, but if you didn't learn from a mistake, you'd be playing a long time.

I agree, multiplayer in Halo 3 is addictive. But the campaign is the whole focus of the game. I like to play Halo 3 against my family, but I should find better targets. I'm a bit bored of the campaign. There is so many ways you can destroy two Scarabs and I don't ever want to use Iron
