I play Civ on a laptop which is never online. I do have another PC which does go online. Is it possible to download patches (for Civ IV, BTS, and various mods on BTS) into my PC, and then use some method to get those downloads onto my laptop? Can they be transfered by CD or flashdrive?

How is this done? Keep in mind that I'm computer illiterate, and need step-by-step help.

Flashdrives are as easy as an old floppy disk in most cases.
Links to patches are atop these forum pages. When you find the one for your installation (eg vanilla, warlords, BtS), download it to a USB flashdrive. When done, put that flashdrive in your notebook's USB slot and you will typically see the contents open in an explorer window; double click your patch to install it.
