The next time I play a game, I've decided to cripple Religious civilizations and make the anarchy between governments normal. The only way there would be no anarchy is if they switch to fundamentalism, which is no longer in the game. I've got 2 religious civs in the game, Babylon and the Iroquois who change governments like I change underwear. They switch back and forth between Democracy and Communism. One turn of anarchy. No war weariness. I've been in a democracy for 100 years, and have been at war for 98.
You've read the history of this in other threads, so I'll get to the short.
First I signed an MPP with Babylon. Xerses attacks Babylon, so I take out a few cities. Iroquois join the fray on Persia's side and also declare war on me. The Iroquois settle with Persia. Persia sues for peace. I accept after 20 turns. Babylon is furious and continue to fight with Persia. I make the critical error of changing to democracy.
Meanwhile, I'm getting confused here, there have been so many wars, they're all blending into one, Babylon is becoming the most powerful nation in the world. I end my RoP with Babylon. They move a stack of 10 infantry into my territory. I ask them to leave. They declare war. I ally with Persia just about the time Persia is imploding. Persia talks me into another MPP. My people start rioting, so I starve my own people. Then Persia attacks the Iroquois. This goes on for 10 turns. My country is imploding because of the war weariness. I manage to take a few cities from the Iroquois and settle. Save game. My foreign advisor won't let me break the MPP. My people riot immediately. Load save game. Plant spies in Persia. Xerses declares war. I decide to bomb them back to the stone age. The Iroquois keep a large force on a stupid piece of rock out in the middle of the ocean within my borders. I ignore it for now. I don't want a two front war. I take the Persian capital. War weariness is creeping up faster than before. I settle with Persia again.
I want to defuse the situation on that piece of rock and tell the Iroquois that they must withdraw their units. Do I have that choice? No. All I have is withdraw or war. It is 0200 hrs, I'm tired. I forget to save. So I click withdraw or war. It's war. By now the entire world is furious save for one nation -- Britain. I pay Britain 20 gold per turn, plus Radio to fight on my side against the Iroquois. They accept. This is a Falkland islands thing except its against a crazy Hiawatha who is very powerful.
My people are war weary. I'm war weary. I'm going back to the previous save, fighting it out with Persia, then just giving that stupid piece of rock with no resources on it (yeah, I checked the bic file in the editor), although I expect uranium to appear there.
My other choice is to spend my treasury and upgrade to mech infantry, change to communism and suffer probably 9 turns of anarchy, and pound them back to the stone age. Or simply declare peace until I get nukes and f*ck 'em.
I've got the Military Academy. How the hell do you build an army without a leader like they say you can? I love the CivPedia :sarcastic: . It gives you information but doesn't tell you how to actually do things.
