No sound with the game since patching. Intro still plays sound, but once the Menu screen pops up, silence. Anyone know the cause and how I can fix it? Tried advanced options turrning everything off and back on again, no effect.

What sound provider do you have set in Options? I was using EAX 4 at first and noticed I was missing some sounds as well. I switched back to Stereo and they came back.

Well it's not some things are silent, it's that the whole thing is silent. It's like it's not loading the Audio, at all, I'll switch my audio card and see if that works, but that's kind of a pain to do.

In "My Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\Logs" there should be an audio.log file. Check it to make sure there aren't any errors.

So I disconected my MI4 Steinbart audio system, so that audio is now running through my computer's soundcard (the MI4 box basically disconects the sound card, and takes over) and it works. Wierd that the patch would do this, never had any problems with the MI4 in over 3 years, and I guess this means I wol't be playing the game with headphones then.

This may seem obvious, but doesn't Civ use whatever sound card is set as the default device in Windows? I'd say enable & disable (or uninstall & reinstall) your audio system at the Windows level, too.

That sounds like some sound card mis-alignment (for lack of a better word)...

Erm No. I'd say just pick any file that has sound (an mp3 or wav file), play it as normal, and if that works, its CIV not properly recognising your sound card. Unistalling is a little drastic ;)

Well I hear what he's saying though, and it might be correct, but it's never been a broblem before. I've owned all expansions of this game, so it just seemed odd that now with this patch it no longer recognises my normal audio system. But if disconecting the headphones and playing by speaker is what it needs, that kind of sucks, but it just means I wol't play it all night, wich in a way is a good thing anyway.... So I'll deal with it.

I lost sound over a week after I installed the patch. I was playing a game but had to leave so I saved and exited the game. Later when I went to restart my game I noticed I had no sound. Multiple attempts later and I'm still without sound.

Are you using windows Vista?

Vista is riddled with DRM "features" that reportedly can conflict with some sound cards.
