Hey all,

I finally have a new computer that can handle Civ 4, but it will be awhile before I can buy the game. So, to wet my appetite I want to play the Demo. But, having Vista, everytime I try to install it tells me I MUST install DX9c. When I get to the part where DX9c is scanning for files it just hangs there. No activity. No CPU usage or anything. And if I click cancel on DX9c it will cancel the Demo install.

I am completely new to Vista and I don't know what to do about this. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

You will definitely need the DirectX9c install since Vista only comes with DirectX10 and that does not work with Civ, I do not know too much about Vista, but if you cannot install the directx9c from the demo you could try downloading it directly from microsoft (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=cb7397f3-0949-487b-9247-8fee451bf952&DisplayLang=en). Maybe this newer version does not produce the hang.
