View Full Version : Rhye, can we please have start options?
Squirrelloid Oct 17, 2007, 01:11 AM Ugg... I just won a cultural victory in 1920 as Germany while well on track for an historical victory. Normally I'd turn cultural victories off (I find they're far too easy to get), but RFC doesn't give me that option.
So can we at least get an option-start version which allows us to select which victory conditions we want active. I play for the UHVs, and getting denied when success is almost guaranteed is really annoying.
(1920, all necessary land area conquered, Solid stability, an estimated 34 turns to complete the tech tree by summing research times in turns for each remaining tech - not counting the roll-over effect of excess lightbulbs, commerce growth, or the effect of the GA i'll pop in 1940 for 2 UHV conditions met, so probably more like 20 turns).
wr4th Oct 17, 2007, 03:00 AM Exactly the same thing happened to me when i was going for the german uhv the first time, i just built all those wonders because i was so far ahead in tech race and didn't pay attention to the culture skyrocketing.
But if you know this can happen you can easily avoid it.
dionysos2048 Oct 17, 2007, 03:03 AM In the menu, you can go into custom scenario and disable any kind of victory.

I think what finally did me in was corporations, as i did the math and the hammers and food from Creative/Sids were better than from their non-culture producing equivalents (Mining/Cereal) - in Creative Construction's case that's after taking into account the Aluminum corp (who also produced a good chunk of research at the same time!) - so i built them for the production advantage.
My endgame looked like a few cities in the boonies building infrastructure (whereby boonies i mean England mostly), most of them building research, and one city/corporation pumping out an exec each turn. (And a few cities in russia making tanks to support my legion of infantry and artillery since Mongolia declared on me and was attacking my vassals). But those corporations were churning out something like 100 culture/turn... which is a lot of culture. (And of course, Rome, Posen, and Mainz were the first places to receive the corporations on top of that).

...No you can't, it's not an option.
Zhuge_Liang Oct 18, 2007, 01:34 AM Soooooo true.

Hmmm, I'd never realized. It used to be possible in vanilla and warlords. You can easily change that if you go into the mod folder, open the configuration options and change
; No Custom Scenario option in main menu
NoCustomScenario = 1
to
; No Custom Scenario option in main menu
NoCustomScenario = 0
I guess that should work.
