if you start up a corporation...and just say, it consumes uranium...does that mean you cannot build icbm's?

'Consumes' is misleading; they shouldn't have used that word. The resources are still available for use.

For "consumes" read "utilises".

Since this thread is already concerned about Corps - I have another question:

In which way is the maintainance cost for the corp in a city calculated?
In many cases it is not profitable to spread certain corps to a city as it may cost too much (50 gold or more).

The Holy Romans Rathaus becomes totally overpowered (and the Zulus UB as well) as this means you can save as much as 25 gold per city! (25% extra lower maintainance)

Maintenance cost for corps (as listed in city screen)

4 + Number of resources*
x
(Population of city+17)/18
x
3/4 if Free Market, 5/4 if Environmentalism
/
Inflation (if your inflation is +50%, this divides by 1.5) [new to 3.13]
x
Difficulty factor

That is what is listed in the city screen, in terms of what you Pay
Inflation comes back, and Courthouses are applies

so what will come out of your Treasury is

Bonus x Size x Civic x Difficulty x Courthouse

so for
28 corporate resources: Bonus=4+28=32
a large city ~ pop 28: Size= (28+17)/18=2.5
with a Courthouse: court=1/2
Deity level: diff=1.5
Environmentalism: civic=5/4

32 x 5/2 x 5/4 x 3/2 x 1/2
=75
so
~75 is the 'Worst case' scenario of what a corporation would cost you
(of course you get 28 bonuses from the corp .. so
Mining=28 hammers
CC=14 hammers + 84 cult
Sushi=14 food +56 cult
Cereal=21 food
Alco= 84 res
Ethanol=56 res
Jewelers=28 gold + 112 cult

Of course if the UN lets you switch to Free Market, the worst case becomes 45 gold

If you have a city size 19 instead of 28 then it drops to
60 or 36 gold for different Civics

and if you play on Noble level
40 or 24 gold for different civics

(*adjusted for map size.. bigger maps cost less pre resource.. but the corp gives less benefit)

Well thanks a lot for your enlightening answer :goodjob:

In that case both the Zulus Ikhanda and the HRE's Rathaus becomes very potent ! Kind of unbalanced ...

Note those are for Overfed corporations

Although I'll agree the Rathaus is extremely potent

IMO though the Holy Romans need SOMETHING to make you think about playing them, as they have the two weakest leader traits :P
