I'm curious...is it just me, or is happiness and health late irrelevant later in the game?

In my experience, it is. Health can be nasty during the industrial revolution, but the Recycling Center eliminates any and all health problems you will ever face, ever again.

Happiness...well, by the late game, you have enough happiness resources (and all the buildings that increase it) that you are usually way above the happy cap.

Anyone else experience this?

I am usually fine in both, late game. Only exception is if another civ adopts environmentalism before I do.
Almost forgot. Sometimes I suffer unhappiness if I'm involved in a war. It goes away pretty quickl;y after I win though.

I struggle with both late game... though I'm finding that trying to get Rock 'N Roll and those other modern wonders can be a good fix when coupled with a broadcast tower... ho hum

happiness can be hard, if you have big cities. I find myself often sticking with hereditary rule very late into the game. The exception to this is usually when I get all the religions, as with free religion you can have +1 for each religion and its temple.

Unless you are way over on happiness, it can end up limiting your civics choices, especially if you are fighting wars. The more happiness you have, the more you can draft also, without repercussion.

For health, I t that you have some pollution. For city sizes 15-20 you can have perfectly good health, but for the supercities that get bigger than that you still have to worry about it.

I always have cities that have a big issue with sufficient production though, so the more commerce based ones have problems building all the health buildings and have some pollution.

I play on Noble.

@ WilltoAct- Does your post explain why I have no happiness problems late game? I tend to build those.

I always assumed I am in good shape late game because I have unhappiness/unhealthiness earlier and probably over-react to it.

I find health is the real cap in the game for me. Happiness you can always use culture slider to increase. But there is nothing to allow more health outside of the buildings in the game. But very rarely do I come across a time when I have no options of improving the health to satisfy my needs before end game. If I were to play past the end game, I would probably run into health woes fairly soon though.
