"Advertising and solicitations are NOT permitted.
Posting of advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are inappropriate on this forum. You are ONLY permitted to advertise your site in your signature or in the "Other Civ-Related Sites" forum. The exception to this rule is to inform others of sites that provide a service to benefit them. For example, posting a thread regarding a new free web space provider is acceptable providing there's nothing in it for you except the satisfaction of helping your fellow members. "

does this mean I cant make a new thread, linking to a non-civ realated website?

Yep! But only if the thread is intended as an advertisement. You can advertise civ-related sites in the appropriate forum but you may not advertise for non civ-related sites :)

Talked with TF on this. Basically if you want to promote one of your Political Chat fora then you need to keep the link in your sig. TF doesn't want people opening new threads all the time advertising other sites....it is boring for others and why should TF's site promote theirs?

Now if you were to provide a link to cnn.com for a particular story in the correct forum (OT in this case) then the link is supporting your post....and not the purpose of your post.

Get it?

That's correct... Threads created solely for promotion of non-Civ sites are not allowed.

I understand. but starting a thread, and throwing the link up "by accident" like my canadian politics thread is ok, right :D

I'd really like PC Reduction powers and banning, permaban might be too uh, permanent? Well TF can undo those... And I would give myself a 3 day vacation, why not? "Ain't nobody below a vacation." ;) "Here a ban there a ban everywhere a ban ban." :p "Why'd the chicken cross the road? BAN!!!"

I previously posted that most of what I post would be considered spam by definition. Not proud, or ashamed of the fact. :D Maybe I go post more spam at GC... :)

Why can't we use the above Message Icon as smilie?

I'm just spamming...

floppa21
Jun 19, 2002, 06:27 AM
I think you can, isn't it "smug" or something? But don't anyways. It is MY smiley. If you want to use it, there is a "floppa tax" involved. ;)

It's easy! You just right click on the smily in the list above the box you type into and then go to properties. The internet address for the particular icon will be displayed in the middle of the new window that pops up. Simply copy it and then use the image [IMG] [/IM G] brackets around it to use it as a smiley. :goodjob:
I feel all smug now.... :Dhttp://forums.civfanatics.com/images/icons/icon22.gif:D

Why are people still posting in this thread when it's clear that the issue I all worked out? This is clearly a case of massive SPAM-posting which should lead to several bannings.

Sloved

Remedial teaching is required...

Pellaken: I've seen you post this sort of thing in numerous threads and at GameCatcher too where you request things of the mods. Why? You don't think they'll read it and make their own minds up? It is completely unnecessary and essentially pendantic.

The topic of this thread was something that anyone able to read and comprehend English should have had no reason to ask. Beyond that you could look at the example of other posters with a reputation for sense.

I am extremely suspicious of people who concern themselves overly in the "site feedback" sections of forums and who have asked to get modley powers. Like payrises, modley powers come quickest to people that don't ask...or at least that is how I feel about such things ;)

Dell19

No Modship comes to those who start their own forums... Otherwise you have to wait a long time, or join a very small forum, the kind where every member is a Mod. :)

A lot of people ave that feeling, hell, that is how the mods got to be mods, by being helpful. Maybe one day when Pellaken gets rid of the extra personalities he could even be a mod. I get a laugh most of the time now when people ask for threads to be closed. Normally the thread is still valid or would have been closed by a mod but the mod wasn't available at that time. But really it is no big deal and that is why I just laugh and don't get mad at them telling me how to do my job. :D

Its nice when someone asks for a thread to be closed and then someone says it should be kept open, so peole start arguing about whether the thread should be kept open instead of the original topic.
