I tried out Bhruic's patch but it seems to crash my game...any fix or do I just have to just stick to the oldie?

Do you have the latest version of Bhruics patch? (1.101 at the moment)
With 1.101 he fixed a crash that was introduced with 1.10.
I you have trouble with the latest version, you should switch back to 1.09.
Perhaps you can have a look at Bhruics thread and post a savegame there.

Well there are two links on the first post so I just picked the first one which crashes me. Why would a crashy and noncrashy version be up any way?

The two links are for two different patches. The first link ist the CvGameCoreDLL.dll patch and the second one is a xml patch, that fixes other problems. I think we are talking about the dll patch here.
There is a new version up at the moment (1.105). You can try it and if it still causes problems, you should post at Bhruics thread.
