I have the great wall, and a barbarian uprising came to my doorstep. Ha. Like 12 Swordsmen spawned outside my borders and have nowhere to go except to The Portuguese. Ha!

View Full Version : Haha. Just screwd over the Portuguese! FoolFromHell Oct 29, 2007, 04:48 PM I have the great wall, and a barbarian uprising came to my doorstep. Ha. Like 12 Swordsmen spawned outside my borders and have nowhere to go except to The Portuguese. Ha! FoolFromHell Oct 29, 2007, 05:07 PM Does anyone know what to do with this? http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c234/Foolfromhell/BeyondtheSword.jpg I am one of the member nations of the Apostolic Palace in the league of Confucianism. Huyana Capac is Buddhist. Can I force war on him? I dont like him inside my empire like that. Id rather not go to direct war just yet. Supr49er Oct 29, 2007, 05:29 PM If your culture is strong, don't declare war. Let his city flip to you. :D (Unless you have that option turned off) FoolFromHell Oct 29, 2007, 06:12 PM Unfortunately, the city on the bottom and right have a few wonders and have gone past the 5000 culture mark. It will take forever for even one more jump in culture radius. And the city to the top left wont expand to the encompass that city. lutzj Oct 29, 2007, 06:42 PM Pillage the neutral roads and end any open borders. That way, he'll feel the hurt. or, better yet, build a city in the neutral area and end open borders. You can probably win any ensuing culture war, and Huayna will REALLY feel the hurt, but it'll cost some :commerce: TheWilltoAct Oct 29, 2007, 06:49 PM Ah, don't worry about it... the comp likes to build in terrible spots, I doubt it will ever amount to anything. On a related note, could you slip spies in with the mission of boosting your cultural influence...? I'm not too sure how that works... FoolFromHell Oct 29, 2007, 06:52 PM Ha! I started doing a military buildup and Huyana Capac decided to gift/ liberate the city to me. How nice of him! Where will my military resources go to now? Woodreaux Oct 29, 2007, 08:01 PM WillToAct, about spreading culture via spies I can give run down of how it works. The target city must have at least 1% of your culture. Just send in your spy as with any espionage mission. Note, the EP cost for spreading culture is HUGE. For these missions to be viable, observe the following practices: spread your state religion to the target city (cost savings like 10%) have open borders (cost savings like another 10%) have your spy skip 5 turns (save 10% per turn, for up to 50%) jack up your epsionage slider (I think it's a 1-to-1 reduction) of course pile up a large number of EP's against the target city's parent civ... the ratio of EP accumulation provides a bonus or penalty. Of course, the close proximity to your cultural border also makes it cheaper. Given the extreme expense of this type of mission, it is very wise to start setting it up as early as possible. I've never actually totally flipped a city before, but I managed to spread enough of my culture (to a city of civ I was about to war against) to cause "We yearn to join our parent nation" unhappiness -- and I did it without loosing city peeking EP level against them. TheWilltoAct Oct 31, 2007, 08:40 PM Ok I see, thanks a lot Wood. |
