So I was playing a SP . I was Alex of Greece and in my AI line up I had Ragnar . He and I were the only NON SPIRITUAL civs . Ragnar by like turn 35 already declares war on Isabella . So I'm like , cool ok . I keep building my early Phalanx squad .

Raggy gives Isabella a run for her money , I only see the extent of his damage when I finally destroy Izzy . He got a couple cities but I guess didn't have the will to procede further .

Then a couple turns after concluding peace with Izzy , Ragnar declares war on Justinian . I'm like wtf ? lol . After some turns , Ragnar comes to my court and requests my help , I go sure why not , doesn't hurt having this crazy man on your side . :goodjob: Besides , Byzantium was my next logical target anyways .

I declared war on Izzy and Justinian at the same time .

But still , the AI doesn't to an efficiant job of mopping up other AIs so I get the majority of the spoils .

A period of calm passes after Izzy and Justin are destroyed . I consolidate my gains , go full force on economy . Wouldn't you know it , Raggy declares war on Asoka ( perhaps he is guided by his own divine inspiration from Odin) and as if by que , he's in my court in no time and asks for my help . I guess I was the only civ that was on pleased terms with him , everyone else actually hated him ( annoyed or worse) .

At the time I controlled the shrines of Buddhism and Judaism thanx to Justin and Izzy . However , during the period of calm I decided to persue the Jewish path and managed to spread in a few of Raggy's citys .

Note , I didn't convert to a religion just yet . ( yeah it sucked I had to waste valuable time building a couple monastaries) Raggy was the only one without a religion along with myself . I denied Raggy's request and converted to Judaism officially . I rang him up again and made him a tempting offer to convert to Judaism , I wanted him as friendly . He converted and we became friendly . During is war with Asoka , I rallied some troops on Asoka's borders and ever the opportunist I joined in the frenzy and did most of the leg work and took the holy shrine of Hinduism .

That left us with Mansa , who was also a Jew , and Saladin who was a Christian now . Had another period of calm after Asoka . Made good with Mansa and I was hoping Raggy wouldn't declare war on Mansa . Luck was there and he ( Ragnar) declared war on Saladin a while later . This became a three pronged attack as I got myself and Mansa involved in the action . I got the majority of Saladin's spoils including the Christian shrine , Mansa got Divine Right first ( as I didn't focus on it too much) and got Islam but didn't convert .

During the war against Saladin , I decided to backstab Raggy and did him in , this left Mansa and I . I was signifigantly more powerful than Mansa and really treated him badly after the war .

I kept on making absurd requests for resources and he gladly obliged . I converted to Buddhism and which screwed up our relations to less than friendly . Pretty soon I was demanding tribute and he kept on giving with ( sure , kick a civilization when they're down)

I felt bad , Mansa was a good ally but thats not the name of the game . I finally did him in and got another domination victory - noble -

But I was surprised how Raggy just tore up the religious civs , never seen it quite like that before .

Ragnar picks up religions for himself, as far as I've seen, and converts as you say. Probably the religious civs didnt like him for other reasons and brought the war on themselves.
