Hey all, this is my first post here so hopefully i do it right. :)

When starting the game i get an error saying that i need to insert the correct cd rom and restart the app. It does this even when it auto-plays after inserting the cd in the drive. Sometimes i can get it to go if i use msconfig to turn everything off and other times not. The people at 2k weren't any help what so ever. I didn't have this problem till I got warlords. I have downloaded the latest updates for everything to no avail. If anyone can help i would appreciate it.

Also I read in one of the other posts about a certain memory alocation error. And that one of the companies stated that it wouldn't get fixed cause it only happens on mods. But I recieve this error from time to time, and i don't mod the game in any way.

And if anyone needs it, here are my system specs

AMD Athlon X2 3800+
1 gig dual channel ddr2 800 (hopefully to be 4 soon)
2 hitachi deskstar SATAII 250gig on a raid0
Foxconn MB Nforce 590 sli
2 geforce 7300GT 256mb on sli
Lite on dvd burner
lite on SATA dvd rom
thermaltake 700W power sup
Windows xp sp2(thinkin of going vista)

:band: Welcome to CFC :band:
The MAF has been (partly) fixed in the BtS expansion pack, it is caused by a combination of large memory usage by Civ and the fact that Windows does not allow programs to use more than a set amount of memory even if more is available. In you case its probably the 1 gig RAM that is the bottleneck on huge maps so this should be reduced when upgrading.
The insert disk thing is a safedisk issue, you might want to work through this list (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/228985).

I thank you for the responce. I am looking forward to getting the BtS expansion pack, but can't afford to at the moment(it's a 2 hour drive to any city near here). I tryed the safedisk update, but still have the problem. Once again thanks for the reply.

I have basic CIV IV, Warlords and BTS

All of a sudden, only BTS works from its icon. All others say incorrect disk even when started from disk by autoplay.

Suggestions?

are you sure that you do not have a virtual drive installed? many cd/dvd copying programs come with such.
Also of course there is always the possibility that the cd is damaged or that safedisk does not work properly with your drive. To test whether it is the cds fault it would of course be best if you had access to another machine.

Had same problem and tried everything. Finally did a reinstallation which did not work until I unchecked the box saying run in XP compatability. Now it works fine. Had tried that before tghe reinstall and it did not solve it. After reinstall it did. Go figure.

I've had the same thing. Bts won't open from the desktop icon. but will if I
open and close the dvd drive. Is it because I've installed a new drive cause
the original one died? It happens on other games too.

Safedisk should not care whether the drive is newer or older than the rest of the computer. But I have seen weird things with it, like sometimes people need to turn the cd slightly before closing the drive or it will only work every 3rd time or whatever. Safedisk is a crappy copy protection system, but we have to work with what we have...
