After finishing Ep 2 on 360, I am eagerly anticipatimg the release of Episode 3. From the clues gathered in Episode 2, the future game will take you and Alyx on a quest to discover Dr Judith Mossman and the Borealis. Hopefully Barney will make a return, after being completely absent form Ep 2.

In every new installment of the franchise it is meant to offer new gameplay previously unseen. In Ep 1 it was an NPC to aid and help. In Ep 2 it was the (I thought rather cool) open environs and vehicles. In episode 3 I think there will be a survival element to the game as it is set in a harsh, Arctic setting. Or maybe the game will have a decision aspect, as the members of the Resistence have differing views on what should happen to the Borealis. I personally believe Eli Vance's dying words that the Borealis must be destroyed, because Vance seems to know what he's on about and the mess about in Portal, set in the Half-Life universe.

I believe (and hope) Episode 3 will be DLC for the Xbox 360. Discuss the game and theories of your own.

Release dates would be welcome - I know nixie.

There's been pretty much nothing said anout Ep3 yet. I'd ay it will probably be out in 2009 at the rate Valve goes.

Ep2 didn't really have open areas until the final battle, which is okay, since it is still a great game and the half-life series is somewhat linear in singleplayer (with multiplayer mods being a great addition).

And yeah, we discussed this in the portal thread, but you will definately fight your way (hey, every single god damned time you get to "safety" or a "secure route/transportation" it's attacked (and often destroyed) and/or causes you to take the long way, usualy on foot. I doubt the helicopter will make it to the Borealis, but once you finally get there it will be very interesting, there should be some nice information to tie Portal and Aperture Science into the Half-Life universe. Maybe it will shed more light on what happened in Portal.

Well Alyx's dad got his brain slurped and died. Just before he was about tell you more about the G-Man. Splendid. Now we have to wait 2+ years for for Valve to crank out another episode. Seriously the entire point of splitting the story into episodes is now lost because Valve seems to take an ungodly amount of time to dish one out.

Episode 1 was released in June 06, and Episode 2 in Oct 07, so it's not that long. I predict late next year as a release date.

One thing I'll say those hunters were completely annoying taking a crapload of ammo before they die. Naturally later I started throwing explosive barrels and logs at them when available. In the end however it was satisfying running them down with the car.

Yep, I tried to take em out with the car, they don't always move out of the way XD

You're not suppsoed to waste ammo on them.
