View Full Version : MODEL: Japanese Type 96 15cm Howitzer
Gary Childress Nov 06, 2007, 02:40 AM This model was created mostly using Google Sketchup and imported into Bryce for animating. Again, any unit animators out there looking for a model please feel free to utilize this one. The Japanese are fairly skimpy in their unit lineup so this may be a good one to use.

The Type 96 15 cm Howitzer was a 149.1 mm calibre howitzer used by the Japanese Army during World War II. It entered service in 1937, replacing the Type 4 howitzer, though it fired the same ammunition. The Type 96 was the principle howitzer of IJA artillery until the end of World War II.

TopGun Nov 06, 2007, 08:03 AM Pretty. (If one can say that about a gun!) Wish I know how to use DAZ3d... because this gun (like your german howitzer) is asking for a crew and a team of horses.
Partizanac Nov 06, 2007, 08:08 AM No it doesn't
Civ default gun is all alone! no crew and no horses

Mr. Ambassador, trust me: It does. Look at the great artillery units Wyrmshadow and Aaglo (I think it was him) made... they all have a crew.

Most of Wyrmshadow's artillery units don't have crews. The only artillery units of his I can think of that do have crews are one of his 76mm guns and a towed gun I think. All the others that I know of are all stand alone units. :)

Oh is that so? :)
Funny how those crewed arty units stand out in my mind!

Does this mean the German flak tower isn't going to be in the near future? I was looking forward to incorporating it in my mod. :(

Oh no, no. The Flak Tower is in the works. :D
I'm more than 75% done with the modelling.
I won't use crews on it since they would be only a few pixels tall.
Gary Childress Nov 06, 2007, 10:06 AM Awesome! I look forward to its release! :)
Partizanac Nov 06, 2007, 12:10 PM so I guess TG you will do me AA gun too? :mischief:
TopGun Nov 06, 2007, 01:16 PM I'll take a stab at this Japanese gun.... I "think". ;)
No crews though... :(
If it turns out nice... then I'll also do the German howitzer.

aaglo includes crews. To date I have only done so with the Russian 76mm and the german Pak37. It was a pain and I wont do it again. Take a good look at the russian gun... and you'll see how much I like rooskies.
