Just look at this:

I am playing as the Incas. The Vikings (why it is nearly always the Vikings? I am thinking about forbidding building Caravels to them) got the conqueror event. As expected, they take Coquimpu.

And then, the healthy Viking stack of Conquerors, consisting of Crossbows, Pikemen and Catapults just sits in Coquimpu doing absolutely nothing and not even attempting to take my cities, which are very loosely protected at that point.

I am very thankful, of course, but seriously, this is just too stupid. Does BTS AI do dumb things like that?

As I mentioned in my Viceroy Incan win (and sometimes it also happens when I play a European civ), the Conquerors event doesn't always trigger. You seemed to have built the usual Incan cities in that narrow piece of wasteland that constitutes modern Chile (no offense meant). The computer never tries to colonize that land, so it's probably better to send your settlers eastward and build cities in the interior of SAm. Send your scouts early to northeastern Brazil and meet your Europeans there first (that seems to work against the Conquerors event).
Yeah, the AI is really stupid, but it's good for you. (Turks amassing in Sogut rather than take out Constantinople...)

It is bad for me because I like to see some hot AI-on-AI action. With such AI militiary strategy there is not much of an action going on...

Yes, but it depends on which AI triggers the event too.
I have seen the same effect as in your screenshot when the Vikings triggers the event.
But the Spanish tends to move north and conquer everything on their passage.

I think it's due to hardcoded expansion areas for various Civs.
