Yeah, its still an embarassment. Findlay is really good (they could beat Youngstown St, or some of our crappy D1 programs typically), but the Columbus press thinks we have a top 25 team.
shortguy Nov 08, 2007, 07:16 PM We've only had an exhibition so far, a 124-65 drubbing of 10-19 D2 team Carson-Newman. Though it's hard to read much into a game against such weak competition, I came away quite impressed with the youngsters. Zeglinski had pretty good handles and he was always getting his hand on the ball defensively. Jeff Jones has a lot of offensive talent and should be able to contribute right away, and Farrakhan scored his share too. Meyinsse bulked up some and should be a contributor this year, and Calvin Baker (a W&M transfer) will definitely get some solid minutes. Mike Scott didn't play, but some people in the know have been raving about him. It's hard to say for sure, especially after the loss of J.R. Reynolds, but with a lot more depth--especially on the inside--this team could potentially be better than last year's.
GoodEnoughForMe Nov 09, 2007, 02:12 PM My university=potential solid mid-major. Hopefully we'll win the MAC. We have every player returning from last year and a guard who was recruited by MSU and U of M, and is projected to be a first team all MAC player now in his sophomore year (and he is really better then most anyone I've seen in the conference), and a center who's been second-team all MAC for two years running. I'm pretty excited.

You bring up a good point, actually. The ACC hasn't been more successful in general than the Big 10 has, but in head to head bouts--in the challenge and in the NCAA tournament--the ACC has the decided advantage. Is there some particular reason that Big Ten teams generally match up poorly to ACC teams?

ACC is more athletic, while the B10 is more 1/2 court. But in the tourny things are slowed down and teams play more 1/2 court which plays more to the B10 than ACC

Sure, the Big Ten had more final teams, but top to bottom, the ACC is always better. We see that (in the ACC's bad years) in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge. Any ACC game is a losable game for any team. I'd like to see Indiana under Knight go above .750 in the ACC. I can assure you they wouldn't.
King of Town Feb 05, 2008, 06:34 PM well we'll never know, but he knocked off some pretty impressive teams to win his titles. I hate hate the acc big ten challenge. My illni used to be the only team that ever seemed to win. In my opinion I think they choose some peculiar matchups. I can't make any excuses though, you guys own us there.
dgfred Feb 06, 2008, 08:23 AM Williams is pessimistic. Take that as a "no."
Big Hans better pick it up another notch ;) . Should be a good one.

Psycho T will be fine, it's QT Heel fans are worried about.
Azale Feb 06, 2008, 10:49 PM Blue Devils win. When did black become their second color?
Fetus4188 Feb 06, 2008, 11:55 PM the man has the only perfect season on record
I'm quite sure Wooden had an 88 game winning streak. Or does that not count?

Knight had the last unbeaten season, 1976
UCLA had a couple during the Wooden era

They've had it @ 10 years or so.
dgfred Feb 07, 2008, 08:49 AM Duke just played a better all-around game. Lawson does make a big difference, I just don't know if he would have last night. Very poor shooting
by the Tar Heel perimeter players. Green and Ellington were off their game,
some of it can be credited to the Duke defense (most were wide-open shots
though). Duke really brings the pressure, both on offense (wide spacing and
excellent wing players) and defense (quick and athletic). Looking forward to
the next couple of meetings :D .

If Lawson was there, UNC wins it...guranteed. Lawson frees up defenders from Ellington, who would make shots early, getting him confidence with each shot. Green as well. And less QT playing time.
Azale Feb 07, 2008, 05:37 PM They've had it @ 10 years or so.
Yea...but usually as an alternate. It seems like they use it almost as much as the blue now.
LLXerxes Feb 07, 2008, 06:34 PM Two of my friends who are huge Tar Heel fans weren't at school today. I called them up after school to see if they were still alive after last night's game.
They told me they had bet like $100 with a few people that UNC would win by 15+

Morons. I hate idiotic UNC fans, they disgust me more than idiotic Dookie fans. Seriously, who expects to win by 15+ without your star PG.
Red Door Feb 16, 2008, 09:24 PM The gods of college basketball must want an undefeated season. I thought this was the day Memphis finally lost.
King of Town Feb 17, 2008, 09:20 AM I would have liked to see it,I want Mike davis get some spot light after being kicked out of indiana
shortguy Mar 09, 2008, 10:46 PM Tonight was the best game we've had in quite a while. Sean Singletary gave an inspired performance in his last home game, scoring his 2000th point on a layup with just a few minutes to go, and a lot of our other players were on as well. And it's always nice to give Maryland a whooping. This was the most fun I've had at a game since VT (or maybe even Duke) last year, and it helped make up (a little, anyway) for what has been a dismal season.
