View Full Version : AP vote is weird and annoying!

In my last game I declared a prepared war on Cathy, who built AP, I conquested her first border city that has the AP religion, and suddenly AP vote popped up, 'stop the war with Cathy'! I had only 3 votes and Cathy had enough votes to pass the solution! It is so unreasonable!

you can still defy resolutions; considering you only have that religion in the city you just took, the penalty will be very reasonnable.

What mostly annoys me about AP is what happened in one of my recent game:

Peter and I shared the same religion,He has a larger empire and control the AP. It tooks me tons of tech to bribe him to declar war to Washington.
Several turns later, he proposed 'stop the war with peter' and he voted yes.the resolution passed! My bribe to him was wasted!
10 turns later after the peace he declared war to Washington again. This time without me bribing him for it. But 1 turn later he proposed 'stop the war with peter' and vote yes again! It seems that the AI always vote yes to stop the war against himself no matter if he want to wage the war! I think this is a bug of AI decision.

what pisses me off is that every time that i have the ap and control, no resolutions ever come up...i recently shared a continent with only stalin and he continuously declared war on me...i was in control of the ap and no resolutions to stop the war ever came up, but it seems when someone else is in control these resolutions pop up regularly

you only get the option to stop a war between members. so if stalin didn't have the AP religion at all, you can't hold a vote to stop the war. he doesn't have to be a full member and have it as his state religion, but he has to have it in at least one city for that to be a vote option. and you have to not capture that city, if it's his only one .

You have to install the latest patch (3.13) to fix that, or, if you did, you cannot be on free religion to be able to pass resolutions.

Any way, the AI seems to always vote Yes to the "stop the war against [himself]" resolution even if it was him that declared the war in the first place. Smells like a bug to me.

Also, the penalty to defy a resolution is too low, especially for the AI. The AI never seems to be bothered with it even if the AP religion is widely spread in his cities.

Jeez, all these double topics...

If that's the case, has the issue been raised in the bug reports forum yet? If not has at least been brought to the attention of Bhruic?

This happens ALL THE TIME WITH ME....

World war against me (these AIs hate Shaka as much as humans do) Sadly, so i build the AP. Nothing. Blankness.

Another one- Was spreading religion everywhere to achieve a diplo. Guess what? Monty declared war on me, the wacko, so i said stop the war, when i couldve done Diplo. No more votes. Dead Shaka.

I'm not sure if it's really a bug or specifically hardcoded for some reason.

Bribe wasted? Not completely. Think longer term... the divide half of "divide and conquer".

Your bribe was not completely wasted... it just benefits you in a different way than you expected. These two AI will avoid helping each other for the rest of the game now (the lower the relations, the more tech trades get "redlined"), and their military demands will further slow them down. Multiple "You declared war on me" penalties between the AI are really awesome... it's a downward spiral in relations that can't be reliably achieved any other way.
