View Full Version : City Graphics Request: Egyptian
Raw is War? Jun 17, 2002, 02:02 PM Hi, a request here. Has anyone considered making new city graphics for the Egyptians. I dont like them having the greeco-roman graphics because they don't truely represent them, they should have their own unique city graphics. Someone please consider it as I can't make them myself.
zulu9812 Jun 17, 2002, 02:31 PM i think that the city graphics are hard-coded to be one of those 5: rAMER, rASIAN, rEURO, rMIDEAST, rROMAN
Mongoloid Cow Jun 17, 2002, 11:22 PM then change the greaco-roman city-set :)
Amenhotep IV Jun 18, 2002, 12:55 AM Great idea, but nobody knows how to solve this problem. Zulu9812 is right: there are only 5 city styles.
And besides, not only Egyptian cities should be changed, but also American, Zulu and maybe Indian....
Ask Firaxis....:crazyeye:
zulu9812 Jun 18, 2002, 01:30 AM I definately think the Aztecs should have an individual city style
wilboman Jun 18, 2002, 11:02 AM The Aztecs DO have their individual city style. It's the one adopted by all the american civs, a kind of generic Mezoamerican city mostly based on the very cities of the Aztecs and Maya...
What really doesn't make sense to me is that the American civ has the Mezoamerican city style...
They should have the European, or, even better (judging by the style adopted by the main govt institutions) the classic Greco-Roman cities...
In fact, since the US is kind of the odd one out in Civ3 (not really one tribe with traceable origins at all, no matter what certain movements *cough*KKK*cough* seem to think about "true americans"), they should have their very own city style, a kind of mix of the lot.
Raw is War? Jun 18, 2002, 11:32 AM I've been playing thamis' Ancient Mediterranean mod (which is great by the way, especially since he has fixed those crashes :goodjob: ) and the Egyptains look out of place with that city style. Oh well if the problem can't be fixed guess i'll have to suffer. :(
Smoking mirror Jun 18, 2002, 06:22 PM Ive been working on some new city sets, mostly industrial though I may do some others, and although ot is true that there are only five city set, What is in those sets is up to you, you could have turkish, egyptian, roman, greek and european for a european mod; Or different variations on the euro industrial citys for a euro industrial mod. If you start the civs off in different eras you could have even more by having some main categories like mediterainian and the english could be a subset so that later as the romans atain dominace in the mediterainian and europe, english graphics change (when they gain enough techs to enter the roman era) to a more romanized city style.
I'm doing a early industrial "Classial" archetecture set at the moment, but later I may do an egyptian; though to be honest any one with a 3d program could do it, City sets are the easies of the graphics to doo in 3d, just make loads of geometric shaped, place them on a magenta plain and render. Bang, if you were subtle enough in your arangement and texturing you get a good city style. Next just go back and delete some of the shapes render agian and you get a smaller city.
