View Full Version : competing corporations Minmaster Nov 15, 2007, 12:16 PM what does competing corporations mean? for example, mining corp. competes with creative con corp. i think, does it mean they cannot co-exist in the same city? Soneji Nov 15, 2007, 12:24 PM Perhaps it relates to how much money each one brings? No you can have all the corps in a city as long as it has the resources. (I think, I constantly play as State Property so have only played corps a couple of times) Theoden Nov 15, 2007, 12:32 PM It means that they cannot co-exist. If you try to spread a corporation in a city that has one or more of its competitors it will be more expensive than usual but it will the competitors disappear from the city. Soneji Nov 15, 2007, 12:34 PM Right, does this happen if you are the founder of the corporations in question (two or more), if not them all? Minmaster Nov 15, 2007, 12:50 PM dang so it just gets rid of the old corp. when you bring in the competitor? that's pretty crazy. never had a situation to try it out though. Draknith Nov 15, 2007, 01:07 PM yeah, competing corps cannot co-exsist in the same city. I will usually divide the corps up into the cities that are best suited for them... Mining Inc. for production cities, creative cons. for border/low culture cities, sid's sushi in all cities I can get it in, and civ jewlers for my gold cities. Of course this is just how I do it. I'm sure there's many different ways people attack this problem. Soneji Nov 15, 2007, 01:10 PM So what happens when I found all of them in my holy city, with WS etc? I recieve all the gold, but what happens in that city with regards which corp dominates if various resource types are available? MrCynical Nov 15, 2007, 01:14 PM So what happens when I found all of them in my holy city, with WS etc? I recieve all the gold, but what happens in that city with regards which corp dominates if various resource types are available? It doesn't allow you found a corporation in the city if the HQ of a competing corporation is already present. The option is just greyed out if you try. It's absolutely impossible for corporations that compete for resources to ever be in the same city. Soneji Nov 15, 2007, 02:42 PM Which corps compete with other ones then? bmarnz Nov 15, 2007, 03:09 PM Corporations compete if they use any of the same resource. example 1: Mining and Creative Construction both use gold, so they compete. example 2:Sid Sushi and Standard Ethanol and Cereal Mills all use rice, so they all compete. Draknith Nov 15, 2007, 03:43 PM You can go into the civlopedia and look up one of the corporations. It will tell you which corps are in competition with it. Pretty much though if it uses mines to get at the resource those corps will compete, or if it's food then they compete. MrCynical Nov 15, 2007, 04:26 PM Which corps compete with other ones then? Sid's Sushi, Cereal Mills and Standard Ethanol all compete with each other as they all use rice. It is therefore only possible to have one of these in a city Mining Inc competes with Creative Constructions, Civ Jewellers and Aluminium Co. The latter three do not compete with each other though. Therefore the maximum number of corporations you can have in a city is 4 (Creative Construction, Aluminium Co, Civ Jewellers and any one of the three rice corporations). If you have Mining Inc you're limited to that and one of the three rice corporations. |
