Installation:

1. Delete previous version of this mod
2. Copy contents of the file in " Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\PSYX's Modern world 4"
3. Start play and load this mod

May be you have a wrong name of the mod folder, must be "Beyond the Sword\Mods\PSYX's Modern world 4"

Any theme packs, are patches too ))

If it dont work. delete folder "Cursors" in "\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\PSYX's Modern world 4\Assets\res"

And if dont work, try to reinstall game and delete any dont original files, and try to run mod, must be work!

Ranged Bombardment: It is originally tailored for Rise of Mankind mod but it can work with any other mod by replacing the UnitInfos xml file with the one of the target mod and modifying it to give ranged bombardment to suitable units. You can find it here:

I'd love to download and take a look, but I don't really get as much civ-time as I used to... :(

One thing I can let you know about straight away? For the Australian leader, it's "Curtin", not "Kurtyn" - nice choice of leader, he's widely acknowledged as one of Australia's greatest Prime Ministers. For anything else I'd need to test it out, but yeah... looking forward to it... 31 Civ scenario looks groovy. :)

I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong. I installed it and it's like the mod isn't loading properly... the title screen staying at default gives it away... there's certainly no customised contact when I hit pedia off the main menu. :blush:

I always love the Ranged Bombardment mod (although the damage factor needs to be tweaked. It takes like 10 cannons to do real damage). I also always loved playing as the Pirate or Barbarian civs. Black Beard or 1 Eyed Willie would be nice.

Hi Psyx. I believe I found the issue for my case. IN the PSYX's Modern world 4.ini Modular loading was set to 0. Upon Setting it to 1, it loads to Menu, although I do get a couple of error messages about not being able to load Empire of Rus files. I'll have some time to play over the weekend hopefully and actually test the mod out. :)

Thanks for your help... If those error messages prove to relate to something significant I'll pull some screenshots of the errors and post them here. :)

Installed Patch...

Now getting the following errors on loading (Just a selection - I actually get more than this)

"LoadXML call failed for..."

- modules\edu\africa\units\eduafrican_civ4artdefines _unit.xml
- modules\edu\unitscale\eduscale_civ4artdefines_unit .xml
- modules\edu\arabian\units\eduarabian_civ4artdefine s_unit.xml
- modules\custom units\kshariya\kshariya_civ4unitclassinfos.xml

Basically it looks like the new additions and modules aren't loading correctly. It then proceeds to load the mod screen correctly (indicating Modern 4.1 has loaded as per PSYX's screenshot). I haven't been brave enough to load up a game yet, considering the errors which popped up while loading the mod. :)

Well I'm definitely on BtS 3.13 and I haven't modified any core files of the game, only have other mods installed.... Hmm... I'll try a reinstall, see if that works =)

Has anyone ever given thought to creating a Sniper? Give him great range and good strength, but make him take a little longer to build since it takes a while to train a good Sniper.

Looking neat! Not sure what you mean by "it" though... But for a really modern scenario perhaps include the UN as a civ (controlling the UN Wonder, ofcourse), or a minor civ (i.e. unplayable, yet a force to be reckoned with). They'd have to be stationed in "troubled areas" on the map (Worldmap or smaller). Probably need some UN-vehicles as well. Just thinking out loud, but: great graphics!:clap: Have you posted them already? Maybe someone'll get inspired to make a scenario with UN-forces. (Would do it myself, but one of my scenarios seems to crash...)

Good news, also for me :)

In MW v. 4.3 will be "Dales Combat mod"

It is the great SDK, that gives many good things from Civ3 that I liked :)

Also I want to add some new civs for medieval scenario, likes Hungary. (added)..

I think what new units must be added... But only one rule, all civs have just one u.u.

Corporations I will rebuild may be later. I want to add Catholicism and Orthodoxism with their u.u. And some crusader guilds likes Maltian order.

Have any new ideas? What civs to add?

P.S.: I will put screens of new version later, from MW scenario

I generally miss Catholicsm and Orthodoxism in the mods available. (Maltian? You mean Maltesian? And Knights Hospitaller? Teutonic Knights?)*

And I think your good for civs in a medieval scenario. (Are the ones in 1000 AD (version 2) included?)

This civs you can quick edit in v.4.3... For Example, Persia easy converted to Iran :)

If this mod modular, it will be easy, just copy this files to folder "custom civilizations"... Then, I must add some tags in three files... I can add toutorial for adding civs in my mod, if you want... It is easy:)

I've the loaded the mod alright (Not sure why it's not in the proper folder when it's downloaded)

But when I try to load the scenario: "Failed to read world builder (location of scenario)"

I also tried the patch, didn't do any good. Am I missing something?

About v.4.3 (that now still in developing):

I here have faced a problem.... In my mod it is a lot of all both check and catching of bugs very long and labour-intensive process... The Question: whether there is a program and what or helpers in this hard work?
I cannot fix error with a multiplayer in any way... The Multiplayer saves are not loaded in the mod, not clearly, why. But already precisely it is clear, that error not in SDK by Dales as in last DLL all works... Hence, a this error must be in the XML files... Still, that strange has found out... Leaving game in the menu of game (i.e. from game in the menu where " single game ", "civilopedia" and other), throws out on a desktop... I.e., that that connected can be and with graphic, a sound... But meanwhile, I so also have not found this error... It all brakes... The mod could finished one and a half more weeks ago, if not it.... At whom that is the assumption where there can be a mistake?

After converting mod I have a chance 75% may be, that DCM will be working fine and MP also will works (saves).

Becouse DCM by Dale works with standart system with Multiplayer. When modular=1 - saves in MP games dont loaded (crashes)

I think it is a python error... But I cant correct it. And may be, if I convert my mod in standart system, it will be works correctly.

Got this same message trying to load the latest version of Babylon 5 mod plus it CTDed 2 other mod loading trials. I'm running a virus check now.

Try this:
1. Delete folder "Resource" in "Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\PSYX's Modern world 4"
2. Run the game and load mod

Any theme packs, are patches too ))

If it dont work. delete folder "Cursors" in "\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\PSYX's Modern world 4\Assets\res"

And if dont work, try to reinstall game and delete any dont original files, and try to run mod, must be work!

Removed the Resource folder, but I still get this message when trying to load some other mods (including my working version of MOO2Civ (Patch4), to which I need to add some stuff before uploading). Only thing I can think of now is a complete reinstall of BtS... Any other suggestion?:confused:

The version of BTS is 3.13.
I reinstalled the game completely: no difference.
I tried all the tips: same error.

May be, you dont correctly have the name of the mod. It must be "Beyond the Sword\Mods\PSYX's Modern world 4". May be you have that, becouse you was copy the archived folder (name of the folder=name of the archive), but not the folder of the mod.

Not following... I use 7-zip for everything I up/download. But I haven't checked yet, as I was busy with 1862 AD for CIV Gold BTS, MOO2Civ (Patch4) FULL INSTALL and 1066 AD for BTS version 3.1. (Have some time now, will check!);)

You can only create (generate map). The maps of the folder "public maps" of the BTS are dont working. I think to add the World map, becouse in this mod only Europe maps.

Don't know about other mods, but Babylon 5 and Star Trek have been updated to 3.17. There's also a 3.17 thread. (Basically I have the same problem with MOO2Civ, which I can't get to load now.)

Here's the suggestions I found so far (it's from the FF mod thread mainly):

"It depends on what kind of changes you made. If it was just XML ones, just repeat the changes in the updated files. Possibly clear the BTS cache as well: D&S/ADMIN/Local Settings/Application Data/My Games/"BTS"/cache

I had a save game that I was using Veritas Delicat on, just found out recently - have to have that mod loaded to load that game.

@DeaneJ : clear your cache, I've learned that is an important thing when customizing/changing the game. If that doesn't fix your issues."

So far I haven't been able to fix anything either - I'll try re-patching what I did before v. 3.17 to see if that works.

Good news. DLL was founded :) I start to do new v. of the mod.
The BtS 3.17 unOfficial Ranged Bombard has been released!

All credit go to Dale and Xenomorph for his update of UpdatedDalesCombatMod


This is an unofficial update to Dale's RangedBombard that makes it BtS 3.17 compatible. I have only compiled one version of the DLL, a 34-civ version. To change the number of civs, simply edit the CvDefines.h file and changed the #define MAX_CIV_PLAYERS to something else. Ranged Bombardment Ranged Bombardment allows siege units to bombard in the field (as opposed to only bombarding cities). By selecting the bombard icon you can select whether to bombard units, improvements or cities. As well, bombarding is possible from a range. Thus in Road to War, standard artillery will be able to bombard into adjacent plots, whilst heavy artillery can bombard into plots up to 2 plots away.

:(Sorry to report:

- unzipping gave this error message "CRC failed in 'PSYX's Modern World 4\Assets\Modules\Custom Civilizations\Canada\Tru..."(-deau?). Tried unzipping twice, same message.

- loading the 1000 AD v2 scenario I noticed multiple "TXT_KEY..." texts instead of civ and leader names; after civ selection the game CTDed.

Why am I getting this? I think you messed up somewhere. I've done it right. I downloaded all three files, saved them Desktop, and tried to extract them to their own directory.

If you want me to extract Z- zip, then put it in a zip file. Maybe you should put it into one file. Maybe you need to make the instructions clearer.

I got an error for this when I tried to load it up. It said there was a GFC error, failed to initialize primary control theme or something to that effect. I had the same error for Tsentom1's Thomas' War mod. I forgot how to get around it though, anyone have any ideas?
