I supported France... though that doesn't mean that I believe France was the best team in the World Cup (which doesn't mean it was Italy either ;) ).

I love Turkey too! :)

I'm American, but I really like France.

Je suis americain, mais J'aime la France beaucoup.

French sounds cooler than English

La langue francaise sonne plus froid (?) que la langue anglaise.

France. After the affair with Frings before the semifinals Italy my no favourite for the next time.

France. I was going for Germany before that terrible semis match. I would've never expected the Germans to go out in such a dramatic way.

Italy. I got tired of France getting by us (Portugal) on penalties, in the World Cup and in Euro 2000. Each time to play Italy too, like a recurring nightmare. Although my favourite player of the Cup was Willy Sagnol...

La langue francaise sonne plus froid (?) que la langue anglaise.Did you mean France sounds colder than English, or more groovy than English? Both could be right in their own way. :D

you should have had better reasons (like being german, for example), cos there was nothing strange in the Frings affair.
Should I remind you how Totti was disqualified in Euro 2004?

France. Even though they eliminated Brazil (my parents are Brazilian), I didn't want the Italians to come within one WC of Brazil

ConanKND

France, of course. At first I was quite afraid that the 2002 WC horror movie feauturing France's ridiculous performance will come back again, but after destroying Spain and Brazil, passing into the finals, making it the only team left for most of my class's soccer fanatics, it was just fantastic. Evil Italy. I plan to go to France, been there once when I was eight and got sick because of nightmares about the Conciergerie.

I supported Brazil. Once they lost, I stopped paying attention to the World Cup (well, I rooted for Portugal in the 3rd place game). I raelly dislike both the Italian and the French soccer teams.

Slightly in favour of Italy because I would have hated that idiot Domenech being associated with a win an undeniably talented team would have gotten despite - not because of - him being the coach.

But mostly didn't care. Didn't like that World Cup much, in fact.

France. Zidane's headbutt will always be less offensive in my eyes than DeRossi's elbow. :)

Though I have a soft spot for strong goaltending performances, and Buffon had just about as good a tournament as a goalie can have, so I wasn't too bothered by Italy winning.

Buffon was overrated IMO. In the final for example he wasn't able to hold a single penalty.

If you watched the game against Brazil, he looked like the greatest goalie I have ever seen (I don't watch many football/soccer games, though).

If he hadn't saved that Zidane header in the extra-time, there would have been no penalties.

He was World footballer of the year runner up. Quite the accomplishment for a goalkeeper.

I wanted Germany to win. But given the teams that made it to the final, I wanted Italy to win. It was my 2nd favorite team, so I wasn't disappointed at all.

I was hoping for a decent game of football, which is never was..... Italy was too lucky against the Aussies. The French sucked, apart form that match against Brasil.

Onbeforehand, I tipped Italy to be the winners. They did have a very strong team. They never lived up to their standards, I guess.

I wasn't cheering for either team before the match. After I heard the story behind Zidane's incident (wasn't actually able to watch the game due to unavoidable circumstances) I cheered for the French. Don't like foul play, but I felt he was justified. Nonetheless, I'd really like to see some other teams in the Cup next time around.

Yeah, I also hope we'll see an African team past the quarter finals next time. Maybe Ivory coast... I thought they were excellent and unlucky last time.
