I downloaded the D2D version of Civ 4 from ebgames.com a few months ago. I loved the game, so I picked up BTS at the store yesterday. I need the v. 1.74 Patch for Civ 4 in order to install BTS. I went to the D2D(Direct 2 Drive) website, because they have the patch for the D2D version of civ 4, and downloaded the v. 1.74 patch. When I try to open the file that installs the patch, I get this error:

I have the D2D version of Civ 4
I have the disc version of Civ 4 BTS
I need patch 1.74 for Civ 4(D2D version)
I downloaded this patch but when I try to install it I get the error in the picture above.
I submitted a ticket to the D2D techies and have not heard back from them. I appreciate any help.

have you tried patching it to 1.61 first? try this and then install 1.74...
also if you patch it to 1.61 the BtS installer *should* be able to patch it by itself - this is not definite though since I have seen people here who could not get a cd/dvd version of BtS to work with a d2d version of Civ4...

The D2D website only has the 1.74 Patch for Civ 4.

I have version 1.61.1841

Yeah, when I try installing BTS it says it is checking for the latest version of Civ 4, then it tries downloading it, then it doesn't work and it "terminates"

I think I read on the D2D website that v. 1.74 is required for the D2D version of Civ 4 to work with the disc version of BTS. This would be great if I could install 1.74 :crazyeye:

Edit: oh it seems as if it is a directx problem: you might want to install the newest version from Microsoft (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&DisplayLang=en)... If that does not help have a look at the thread I linked to :)

I installed the Driect x, still no luck. I'll check out the thread.

none of the files seem to be in the same place for me as it was for other people. i guess I am SOL as far as this goes. Thansk for trying to help me.

I would recommend trying to give the cd version back if possible and getting a d2d version - if you want to try it still. Or send d2d an email - its their patch and only they really know how to get it to work. Sorry I cannot help more :(

Yeah I sent them a "support ticket". They don't have a phone number or anything. It's sunday so I don't expect a reply for a couple days maybe.
