Over here in the UK, we're giving Ricky Hatton a real chance of beating 'The Mouth' - what do you think Stateside? Is Mayweather as good as he thinks he is?

My verdict is that this thread should be in the Sports forum... :mischief:

I don't believe Hatton has a real chance, but I'm not particularly up on boxing.

Doh! All these years as a member, and I didn't know there was one - thanks.

Maybe a Mod could move it?

I stayed up to watch the fight. I was rather disappointed. I really wanted Hatton to win. Not cause I don't like Mayweather or anything, just case I was rooting for Hatton.

The 'fans' booing the American national anthem deserve to be deported. Ignorant bastards.

Good fight, Hatton started well but in the first few rounds the ref seemed abysmal, but he mellowed out after time. Mayweather seemed to be doing the right idea, as soon as Hatton got close, he essentially doubled over, forcing Hatton to come in over the top of him and as soon as he done that, whether he put in a punch or not,t he ref came in and broke it up. Rinse, repeat = frustrated Hatton.

In the end Mayweather was just too strong, he played a brilliant fight. Just wonder what's next for both fighters, they're talking about a Hatton / De La Hoya fight, that could be fun.

My verdict is that this should be moved to OT.
Two people in a closed area with the sole purpose of trying to hurt the other is not a sport.
Jut my opinion of course...

As much as I wanted someone to beat Mayweather, Hatton got owned. He just wasn't in the league of Mayweather, who was a much cleaner puncher. Hatton seemed like he was just grabbing Mayweather and brawling with him, not really boxing. I totally agree with the ref; Hatton was putting Mayweather's head under his armpit over and over again, and even hit him in the back of the head. Try watching Hatton/Mayweather and then look at de la Hoya/Mayweather to see the stark contrast in the quality of the fights.

I've never been much of into boxing but this was quite interesting. good that Mayweather won because I didn't like much of Hattons style. Sport is all about style :)
