View Full Version : What Missiles on Missile Cruisers?
VinceV Dec 07, 2007, 09:50 PM I might be behind in all this, but I can't load missiles onto Missile Cruisers even though it says "can carry four missiles". I tried cruise missiles (which would make for some really cool modern naval combat), but that doesn't work. Don't tell me you're supposed to use tactical nukes in naval combat?
Or do you have to load them from in the port? Just moving onto the cruiser doesn't work.
Please help, if there is any.
Vince
LlamaCat Dec 07, 2007, 10:35 PM loading missiles has tripped me up before too.. I think you need to move the ship into the city, then use the load button to put them in. I guess it's because missiles don't move around the map in the traditional sense like other units, but it is a little silly and confusing sometimes

That's what you have to do.
VinceV Dec 08, 2007, 08:33 AM okay, thanks. That makes modern naval combat a lot more fun!:)
7of9Fan Dec 08, 2007, 09:24 AM BTW Submarines (the first one not the 'Attack Sub') can also carry Missles and Tactical Nukes.
This really cranks up the fun. lol
Wolfshanze Dec 08, 2007, 09:27 AM Yeah... missiles are treated like loading troops onto a transport... you can't rebase a missile onto a sub or cruiser, they must be loaded in-port.
I also broke-down subs into three types in my own mod... I left default subs as "WWII" type subs, then have modern nuclear Boomer and Attack subs (the Boomers carry the missiles).

Nice, I thought it was kind of silly loading missles on the "First Sub" that we can build. I also thought of it as more of the WWII Sub, and liked the Attack Sub and would have liked a 'new' boomer type to load missles on.
What is the name of your mod so I can download it.
Wolfshanze Dec 08, 2007, 10:45 AM Oddly enough, my mod is called the Wolfshanze Mod (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=249129).
Give it a try... there's some screenshots of the new units in there too... the Soviets also have unique Boomers and Attack subs.
PenguinInTux Dec 08, 2007, 05:21 PM Yeah, they have to be loaded in cities.
Lol... imagining distantly loading nukes into subs :p
anduril171 Dec 10, 2007, 05:00 PM I wish you could make multiple missiles in a turn. I never really build them, because by that point in the game, my military production cities are cranking out 200-300 hammers per turn (taking into account drydock, factory, power, IW/HE bonuses), and it seems an awful waste to make a guided missile when I could crank out a Submarine or Missile Cruiser instead. It would be nice if you could make 3 or 4 missiles at once for the cost of 180 or 240 hammers.

That's why you task other, less productive cities to make missiles instead of your military production city ;)

The hammers are not really lost - they overflow to the next thing you will be building. I just avoid building them in cities that are better off building units that have promotions. Then, it's really a lost turn.
