View Full Version : The Power of Holy War
vorshlumpf Dec 08, 2007, 10:44 PM I had a game with 24 civs. I managed to get the patriarch of the Runes of Kilmorph. I had a bunch of civs at war with me, so I figured, why not, eh?

And here is what the diplo screen looked like:

Still, the Ilians were peaceful. Who says they're evil after all? ;)
Kol.7 Dec 09, 2007, 03:07 AM lol! It must have been absolute chaos! I've never really played such a big game, doesn't it lag ridiculously long between turns. Especially with all civs now at war with each other...
vorshlumpf Dec 09, 2007, 04:37 AM No, not too much. Besides, when my games start to lag, I take that as an excuse to start reading a book again ;)

Heh, I didn't notice that. The benefits of being non-religious, I suppose.
zxcvbnm Dec 09, 2007, 11:27 AM That be pretty mighty mess...
Blow up da whole place!
Holy war is truly a great way to get religious victory if you have both the partiarch and the holy city... or then absolute defeat.
Nikis-Knight Dec 09, 2007, 12:13 PM When Kael first introduced warsripts (in testing), AI civs would agree pretty much no matter what (due to a bug). Games pretty soon looked just like that.
MagisterCultuum Dec 10, 2007, 04:22 PM I just noticed that you were playing against 2 different Faeryl Viconiae
Senethro Dec 10, 2007, 05:13 PM Who are vassaled.
Demus Dec 10, 2007, 05:32 PM looks like a colony to me tbh
vorshlumpf Dec 10, 2007, 06:09 PM I started with 23 other random civs. I had two Faeryls and two Varn's (and boy! was it annoying having two of those guys - they even annoyed each other).
The two Faeryls happened to start close to each other, so they would up having similar religions. When one almost got wiped out by the Doviello, the vassalage took place.
Nikis-Knight Dec 10, 2007, 06:47 PM Well, if we can go off-topic... Do you guys notice ai's vassalizing a bit early? I saw an ai with two vassals the other day that were almost as big as the master.
vorshlumpf Dec 10, 2007, 10:28 PM With the understanding that I haven't specifically focused on this aspect, I'd have to say that, yes, there does seem to be some odd vassalages occurring from time to time.
SwordofStriker Dec 11, 2007, 06:01 PM I went down the list and vassalized about 10 civs on one turn in a game I played recently. If it were BTS, they wouldn't have all agreed like that. The next turn I got like 2 more. I think perhaps the AI does in fact give in a little too easily, however I had the largest army, so that could have been a factor. Still, it seems easier to get vassals in FFH as opposed to BTS. Even the ones who hated me joined up.
vorshlumpf Dec 11, 2007, 07:31 PM Perhaps related to this, I had the Hippus asking for a permanent alliance with me when their attitude toward me was Cautious. I assumed it was their mercenary nature (I was the most powerful nation at the time).
