I want to play the 18civearth scenario/map included with the orginial civ 4 but without so many civs (it slows down my computer late in the game) also i want to play as lincoln. i have tried changing on the custom scenario start option but all the boxes to change players are grayed out. anyone know how to make these changes?

thanks

You just do, you use the magic!

i think you could try to start a game with the scenario as it is, then go into world builder, delete the civs you want gone, then save this as a new scenario...

i thought of that, but i wasn't sure if there was an easier way. also how do i make other leaders available to play (civs with multiple leaders are not given a choice of leaders)

Uh... this i dont know. What i know is: Scenario Files are Plain text, so you can open them up with a text editor.

The entry for each civ looks like this:

BeginPlayer
LeaderType=LEADER_ALEXANDER
CivType=CIVILIZATION_GREECE
Team=3
PlayableCiv=1
StartingX=67, StartingY=43
Handicap=HANDICAP_NOBLE
EndPlayer

i just compared it to another Scenario/map, where it looks like this:

BeginPlayer
LeaderType=NONE
CivType=NONE
Team=3
EndPlayer

So it seems you can skip entries you not need/want, or use NONE - which is assume is "NONE preselected" (rather than "NONE at all")

I will leave it to you to try, but i guess changing all leaders in your map to "=NONE" would make them choose-able.

i just tried that with a few leaders, and it completely erases them. another strange this is that now it is set to modern age start even though i left that line alone.

Uh... Sorry to hear that... Well if that does not work, i am out of ideas. Perhaps some 'Scenario-people' in the Creation/Customization forums can help out.
