Howdy, Long time civ fanatic, first time poster.

I haven't had many problems installing civ in the past, I've been playing ever since CIV I when the settlers doubled as workers.

I visiting home for xmas and to save myself from boredom I went out and purchased a fresh copy of Civ 4 and BTS just for the heck of it.

I installed CIV 4 with no problems, loaded up the game and was able to start..again no problems.

I exited the game and installed BTS, When i tried to start I got a DLL error, no problem found the DLL online and was able to continue, now as the game was loading, just as it was saying "init engine" I got the error "Error Loading Shared Libraries"

arrgh. Couldn't find anything online about it. So I uninstalled BTS and tried to load just the regular CIV 4 - and I received the same error! The computer wouldn't even let me uninstall CIV 4 - so I did a system restore and now here I am asking for help.

If you have any insight please share your knowledge.

the error with the shader libraries is the same as the error with the dll - you just did not fix it by just downloading the dll, you need to get the newest DirectX 9c release from Microsoft (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&DisplayLang=en).

After that you should update Beyond the Sword to 3.13 (use the ingame patcher).

Ah, bless your heart, I am in the middle of downloading the Directx 9c, then lets all cross our fingers as I try to reinstall bts.
