Get ready to re-live operation winter storm; the fate of the 6th army is in your hands

Here is the german tiger 1 Panzer tank; When they were first introduced they had a tendancy to break down or blow up, but when the bugs were worked out the tiger 1 was a solid tank with extra thick armour able to take on the toughest enemy, This magnificent beast can be yours for the cost of only 120 shields! yes buy today and you get a Stuka dive bomber half price :)

Here are the flc, INI and Wav files; Create a folder in your CivIII/Art/units Folder called Tiger1 and put the contents of this zip in it ; XXX here XXX (http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads/tigerdeath.zip)

Here is an animated preview of the unit, Ive used some blending to make this unit somewhat smoother than previous tanks; Later on I may do the winter camo tiger as well.

Some people have asked for a more static default, that doesn't move around so much, so here it is;
New default animation (http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads3/Tigerdefault.zip)

Great Unit!!! :goodjob:

Ops, I just registered a very minor mistake (??? or am I just to sleepy again?), in the INI it states in the sound part under Victory TigerAttack.wav while the sound file is named TigerAttackA.wav (which is also the way it is spelled for the attack sound).

Just thought to mention this... I don't want to be picky, just wanted to let everybody enjoy this great work of yours fully.

O.K. thanks, here is the fixed INI file, just replace the one in the file.

Or if you can do it your self just add an A to the end of the entry for the victory noise. (just before the .wav)

Yes great unit... You've mastered the smoke effects :) I'm still struggling through.

Yeah, very good smoke effects. The scale also looks good compared to Firaxis' tanks (though I've yet to compare in the game).

Awesome. I've just replaced the old Tiger with this one. What a difference! What other of your units are you planning to re-work?

The list of revisions is prety long; mostly though I'm only going to be making new units.
I am going to do a t34/76 + a t34/85 and I'm also going to rework the KV2 and Churchill tanks (probably do a Churchill MKV or later).
I'm going to redo the Stuka, and the ground attack plane, and suplement the new ground attack class with an IL-2 russian plane.
Also at some point I'm going to do a TIgerII with an updated model.

I think the next thing I'm going to do are an early Battle ship/dreadnaught and a Passenger liner (carries only foot units X6, while the troop carrier will be changed to only carry 1 unit of any types), to suplement the tactical aspect of sea warfare.

While you are creating the Dreadnought. Can you also create a Battle Cruiser and an Armored Cruiser. If you want Smoking Mirror I can find some pictures of thoes two cruisers. The Picture I have right now is from the game Imperialism. (Contains Armored Cruiser, Dreadnought, and Battle Cruiser.) Please excuse the little white tare on the Battle Cruiser, I had to search for that sheet and scan it. ;)

Now that is a very nice looking tank, my favorite one so far, it looks very accurate as far as width & height, looking forward to your future tanks!

Your tank is brilliant. Thanks very much for such a great unit :goodjob:
You said you were working on a dreadnought next. Since your so good at making units, would it be posible for you to make a World War II aircraft carrier:D

Keep up the good work!!!:goodjob:

Hmmm, I hate to pester, since I really like this unit (and its been a coupple o months since its been posted) but there is sth that is a bit disturbing with this beautiful :) unit: Its size!!! I have it in my developing mod as an upgrade for the in-game panzer and it is sooo much smaller than the actual in-game tank units :(

SM, any chance you still have the model flighing around somewhere and could make it bigger ??? Doesn't have to any time soon but some day (perhaps there will even be a tiger in PTW) ? Sorry :o

Kentonio's Sturmtiger is quite a bit larger... :(

No, seriously- if you could make it the size of Kinboat's Sturmtiger it would fit perfectly, Smoking Mirror. It is a beautiful unit, just too small (I find it hard to incorporate units like planes where the scale differs greatly between the ME-262 which is too small, and the Stuka, which is a tad too big- the first "ground-attack plane was perfect, though :))

I had your tiger standing next to the sturmtiger, and that latter one was standing next to the Tiger 2 (which is almost proportional to foot unit size, WOW!)

Smoking mirror
Aug 24, 2002, 09:16 AM
Yes I agree that it is a tad small, but resizing it would mean making the whole unit again, not just reworking the images, I would have to completely rerender everything.

I'm going to do a panzer III on the same scale as my t26 (as a light tank) and a Panzer IV on the scale of my t34. So overall the Tiger should fit more in the scale, I've made the T55 slightly bigger to refect its higher power, but I think the size of the tigers gun and attack animation flare should show how much more powerrfull it is than medium tanks.

W.i.n.t.e.r
Aug 24, 2002, 10:34 AM
Awwww, too bad- I was hoping you would still have some backups of the rendering :( oh well- no worries :) it is a pretty nice unit the way it is. Well the T-55 is excellent and fits also perfectly in terms of size. I was waging war agains (slightly) more modern Russia and the T-55 were looking cool next to the (ingame) Panzer !!! I was kinda hoping that future units would be more based on relative size to thae existing tank models firaxis made (Pz. IV is actually quite ok sized for an early WWII tank)

Well, eventualy I will redo the tiger, but not till the Play the world WWII units pack comes out, I want to redo the unit a bit anyway, the turret was a bitt too far forward, and the unit overall needs its height lowering. I guess it will have to wait till the new units are out, so I can do a size comparison, and then make a special "Easternfront tiger" as I had originaly planned.

Just an alternative idea for this. I have 7 unique German tanks so I thought this excellent tank could be put to better use elsewhere rather than becoming extinct before making it to Germany's front line.

By coincidence this tank resembles the modern french AMX30.

So why not make this France's modern tank?

This is an awsome unit, however there is a problem with it.
There is no proper default animation. the one that is called default is the same for fidget and fortify. it is ok for fortify and fidget but it is really bothersome in default function. you leave a Tiger on map and if you have more of them all you can see in a game is their turets moving left, right. it puts a great strain on your eyes. it is the only reason i cannot use this unit in game.
However T34 and T55 are really spotless. Please give me more units like that. how about panther and leopard tank. T72 or T80.

also your unit, i think it is called mechanized infantry, the one unit with soldiers in a truck is excellent however by default it has a large red star, so again i cannot use it. any chance of removing that star please?

Your stuka and harrier jet are also great. But again i do not use them because i do not like run animation. they just turn around. any chance of making them fly straight, like jet fighter?

Keep up the good work

I think I did do a default flic for the tiger tank, I'll have a look and see if I can find it....
With the Mobile infantry, The five pointed star is a military sign used by several nations in different colours- if you set the civ colour to white for example, you have an american Truck, set it to green and you can't see the star at all.
With the harrier Just change the INI file, Delete the text next to the RUN entry and replace it with the text next to the DEFAULT entry- and there you have it, a harrier that just flies straight.

New modifications; Desert camo and winter camo

I've Been tring something that I sugested for the battlemech scenario- using a colour swap to make specific colour schemes. In this case a desert camoflaged tiger tank and a Winter camoflage tiger.
The tiger was used most extensivly on the east front and in the deffence of germany towards the end of the war.
One of the things that lead to the downfall of nazi germany was thier failure to equip their troops and tanks for the russian winter, waht I'd like to do is have a different version of each tank for a different combat arena, using regional terrain (such as a rusian terrrain) that has a movement penalty. The properly equiped unit would be able to cross the terrain without penalty (like the mongol Keshik), giving it much better combat capabilities.
Idealy I'd like to have a camo version for all the WWII tanks I want to use, but I can't do it for the PTW units.

Anyway, whatever you want to use them for, thery are flexible, and feature a new default animation with less movement (see the first post to get the same animation in the standard colours).

Here is a low quality preview of the eastern tiger;

Here are the files, they don't include a INI file, but I think every one knows how to make one :)

Ost front tiger (http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads3/OSTpanzer.zip)

Desert Tiger (http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads3/DesertPanzer.zip)

Several tigers did make it to the battle in north africa, and has been noted in several CIV II WWII scenarios, one of the easiest ways to win as the germans is by puting off the attack on russia and concentrating on the war for north africa, So now people will be able to find out if that is true.

Here is a preview of the desert camo tiger, be aware that Ive used a flic to gif converter to save time when making the preview, so its not the best quality, the real unit is much nicer;

Excellent unit! I'we been waiting for this since the beginning!

I really want to know how do you mass-produce those units?!? I would gladly create my own units, as I know I got the "talent" (patience) of making graphics. What I don't know, however, is what programs you are using, and how do you get those units ready so fast!
Is there any forums of this issue?

My one problem with your mod is the turret location and size on that Tiger 1 as well as the height of the whole chasis. Shouldn't the turret be in the middle of the chasis? Also shouldn't the chasis be a tad lower than it is? Lastly...shouldn't the turret be a tad smaller than the chasis width?

See what I mean?

Sorry but your Tiger really doesn't look like this to my eyes. I might be wrong since the animation is small but it surely doesn't look like the real Tiger 1

What's going to be your next tank project?

If you would, could you check my posts in the unit request threads?

French WWII tanks!!! (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=1261091#post1261091)

I posted a few pics of WWII era French tanks, they would fill a gap in the French lineup - and despite the fact that the French lost to the Germans in 1940, they really had tanks that were superior to the German Panzers!

I would love it if you could make these French tanks somewhere down the line.

I do admit that I am impressed with the current work on this tiger mod but I still don't agree with the dimensions on it. The chasis is just not as wide as should be and the turret is a tad too close to front and the chasis is a tad higher than it should be. If this Tiger were to be "stetched" out a bit it could look more like the real thing. To me this Tiger mod looks smooshed inwards a tad. It's still a pretty unit but the dimensions are off a bit. Could you fix this smoking mirror?
