Heya!

Ive got a problem ive never seen before. I just reinstalled civ 4 (plus both exp.) cause i felt for playing the game again. The game got updated and all so and i started the game. But when i thought i should change the options, then was half of the menus gone. I could change the first tab and half the graphictab, but the audio and misc was totally empty. There was nothing i could change. And the "go back"-key in the right corner didnt work. I thought it was just some weird temp-bug so i restarted the game but it didnt help. Did even restart the pc but to no gain. So i hoped that a reinstallation (again) would help cause maybe there was something wrong with my first installation. But of course not.

Sure, the game works, but i prefer to being able to change the options a bit more than the resolution... If i check in game-options, then is it the same thing. So if someone knows anything about this, then would i be glad :)

(since i did registrate today, then havent i been following this forum. So if there is a solution for it, dont be mad at me, ive just havent had time to read all the posts :))

welcome to Civfanatics :band:

it is possible that the install routine messed up when trying to update Civ4 and Warlords when you installed Beyond the Sword. Could you please open each game and click Advanced then About this build and post the text it displays then?

Thanks ori! :)

I did as u said and this was the results (civ4-warlords-BTS):

Civ version: 174 - 213 - 301
Save version: 103 - 200 - 300
Build version: 1.7.4.0 - 2.1.3.0 - 3.0.0.93(75237)
Build date: Thu may 17 2007-Thu may 17 2007- Thu jul 05 3007
Build: Final release (all)
Mod name: None (all)

I checked with the other two games and there can i change the options, but not BTS, which sucks. I have reinstalled the game 2 times (i forgot to mention my first reinstallation above) and two failled installations is kinda odd i think. But i hope u can see something which might be wrong with the text i wrote above this :)

BtS is not patched correctly. Did you try patching it to 3.13? If so this did not work out and you'll need to do a reinstall - I'll post a complete instruction on that if you need it. The uninstaller does leave quite a few things so that just reinstalling by removing it in the control panel usually does not help.
If you did not try to patch yet, do so.

Well, the first time i found the problem then did i just unistall BTS and then reinstalled the game again. It didnt work, so i made a complete reinstallment for all 3 games which obviously didnt help either.
When i click on "check for updates" in options it says there are no updates at the moments. Can i not dl it and install it by myself? I mean an exe-file?
But if there are something special required to install the patch otherwise, then do pls tell me. Ive just followed what the install-manager (if thats what its called heheh) say to me.

try this - it is a pain but at least makes sure this is a clean reinstall:

Uninstall and Reinstall Civ4 Warlords BtS :

Try to follow this order when doing stuff:
Use Control panel to uninstall Beyond the Sword, then Warlords, then Vanilla
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\my documents\my games\sid meier's civilization 4" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\my documents\my games\warlords" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\my documents\my games\beyond the sword" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\application data\my games\sid meier's civilization 4" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\application data\my games\warlords" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\application data\my games\beyond the sword" manually
(note: application data is a hidden directory so you need to configure windows explorer to show hidden files, also these directories in application data are sometimes removed by the uninstall routine)
Delete "...\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{CFBCE791-2D53-4FCE-B3FB-D6E01F4112E8}"
Delete "...\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{3E4B349F-10B5-4586-9D99-489A90A8B228}"
Delete "...\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{32E4F0D2-C135-475E-A841-1D59A0D22989}" (note: InstallShield Installation Information is a hidden directory so you need to configure windows explorer to show hidden files).
Install Vanilla, immediately patch it to 1.61 (download it fresh from here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=3)
Install Warlords, immediately patch it to 2.08 (download it fresh from here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=3344)
Install Beyond the Sword, immediately patch to 3.13 (download it fresh from here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=7412).
