View Full Version : The Internet world project
Goodgimp Dec 27, 2007, 01:39 PM I have a simple question regarding the Internet world project. I've tried searching the forums, but was unsuccessful in turning up info (that might just be because my searching kung fu is weak, if so I apologize in advance).
It's considered to be a World Project, which is the same as the Manhattan Project. Now I know with Manhattan Project, everyone can build nukes once they have the requisite techs. Is the same true for the Internet? That is, does it effect ALL Civs, or only the Civ that built it?
Thanks!
nbcman Dec 27, 2007, 01:41 PM The Internet project is only for the Civ that built it. It doesn't give every civ the benefit.
Goodgimp Dec 27, 2007, 01:50 PM Thanks for clearing that up for me :)
PimpyMicPimp Dec 27, 2007, 08:09 PM It's odd that it's only a one-civ project, but that's what it is.
rabidveggie Dec 27, 2007, 09:20 PM Its crap is what it is. You usually have a tech lead if you're the one buying it and it costs way too many hammers.

It can come in handy (In the Hannibal ALC, for example), but I generally find no use for it. In fact, I think I've only built two times, and both times it was just to keep it away from the AI.
Gooblah Dec 28, 2007, 05:29 PM I build it when a tech fiend like Mansa Musa is going for a Spaceship. I build it , steal his techs, then use my superior hammers to beat him.
Wolfshanze Dec 28, 2007, 05:33 PM I've been unable to build the Internet in any of my games... for some reason I can't get the special 'Al Gore' unit to spawn in any of my cities to invent the internet for me.
TheDS Jan 11, 2008, 06:51 PM The reason it's a project and not a wonder is so you can't use great engineers to build, nor can you rush. Consider yourself lucky to get a bonus from copper, and maybe from being industrious. Its huge cost means that it can be up in the air who gets it, in a late-start game, or one that's had a tight tech race. You can bypass a lot of techs to get computers, and hopefully you'll be able to catch up if you can build the thing.

Seriously, why can't you build it?
