View Full Version : City scale question

I have been experimenting with "creating" proportionally smaller cities which will be further apart from one another - as the cities (especially when they are large and contain a multitude of buildings in the modern era) are imho far too close together. Hence my experimentation with achieving a more "realistic" look with cities that are considerably further apart.

My current result (please see the attached image) has been achieved in conjunction with the excellent CivScale V3 tool:

I have doubled the size of each plot (found in the GlobalDefines.xml file) to 360 and correspondingly altered the following parameters appearing in the CivScale V3 tool:

CityArea - 4
CityBuildings - 5
Units - 10

Regrettably there are a few problems:

The double-sized plot causes the roads, railroads and rivers to no longer connect. (There must be other parameters that also need to be doubled).

The improvements (especially the cottages and farms) do not scale with the CivScale V3 tool. (There must be other files that need to be changed).

As you can see, the result is not too bad - although it should possibly be improved (appearance-wise) by increasing either the iplotspercell or the fTextureScale values (appearing in the CIV4TerrainSettings.xml file. I tried increasing these figures but the texture appearance did not change.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what else needs to be done?
