View Full Version : Where should I go next fephisto Jun 25, 2002, 09:11 PM I've learned HTML CSS,javascript, and a wee bit of python and C++. In order for me to become the greatest programmer of all time ( ), where do you guys think I should go? starlifter Jun 25, 2002, 10:09 PM What do you mean by "go"? 1. Go to a company for a jo. 2. Go to learn more (tech school?). 3. Go to college (e.g., MIT?). 4. Go for you next language to leanr (e.g, Visual C++?) More verbage, please, and I'll tell you where to go! (LOL, couldn't resist that one ;) ). erix Jun 25, 2002, 10:48 PM Originally posted by fephisto where do you guys think I should go? GO to the library and get a book on Vis C++ then GO to the store and buy vis C++. Then go to your computer and learn :) Then make a webpage advertising yourself using some of those CSS effects in it :) Maybe a little JavaScripting in there too. Black Fluffy Lion Jun 26, 2002, 08:59 AM Learn more CSS. Teach yourself to code in HTML properly, learn w3c guidelines off by heart. :D Learn php (http://www.php.net)...great fun, a full manual. Throw in a db (pref mySQL) too (viva oss!! :D) and you have a good mix. I always say this but apart from CSS it is the best thing you'll learn IMHO. :) fephisto Jun 26, 2002, 09:08 AM Lol, thanks (btw what's IMHO stand for?) Black Fluffy Lion Jun 26, 2002, 09:11 AM IMHO - in my humble opinion just to add to what I said above, if you don't want to do php then get a db anyways...try asp and msaccess though they are highly insuperiar (sp??) to php and mySQL. you'll have to either get a host that support MySQL and php or install them on your own computer if you want to use them though. fephisto Jun 26, 2002, 09:17 AM Oh yeah, you know a server that can support php and cgi? At the moment I have angelfire. Plus, do you know any other languages that can be used for programming on the comp, not the internet? gonzo_for_civ Jun 26, 2002, 09:32 AM fephisto -- LEAVE ANGELFIRE..... That's all I can say. netfirms.com is a good choice and they do support cgi(never checked for php) You have a pretty good storage space over there and there are tons of other guidelines. Oh yeah, w3c guidlines suck! Forget about them :p If it works, don't break it! Black Fluffy Lion Jun 26, 2002, 09:44 AM Oh yeah, w3c guidlines suck! Forget about them :p Coding guidelines make the world go round  Fopr a free host with mySQL and php try tripod, or just set it up on your own computer. fephisto Jun 26, 2002, 03:35 PM what exactly are wc3 guidelines, and how can I set it up on me own comp? |
