View Full Version : Attacking a City situated in "Flames/Burning Sands" Yoadm Jan 07, 2008, 04:16 AM Im having supreme trouble attacking a city situated in such terrain, since my units cant cross to attack it. The city is smack dab on this terrain. Is there any spell I need to overcome this? Thank's Grey Fox Jan 07, 2008, 06:19 AM Spring puts out fires on every surrounding tile. Water 1 spell. Units with fire resistance or enough fire combat can enter fire's too. Demons might be able also. Yoadm Jan 07, 2008, 06:29 AM Ill try the water spell, thank's. Allthough I had the original idea of simply lowering the AC. Sanctify is supposed to work, right? If so, how does one cast it, it seems to allways be uncastable? Marksman77 Jan 07, 2008, 07:23 AM Sanctify works only on city ruins. You may want to lower AC in other way, like razing Ashen Veil cities, killing Prophecy marked units etc., but still the most straighforward and reliable way is Spring spell. Yoadm Jan 07, 2008, 07:37 AM Spring turns desert tiles into plains. How is it supposed to turn AC down, and if so, how much? Secondly, does lowering the AC destroy the hyborem? Grey Fox Jan 07, 2008, 07:45 AM Spring also puts out fires. You can use it if you are standing next to one. MagisterCultuum Jan 07, 2008, 07:50 AM Lowering the AC does not destroy Hyborem, but destroying Hyborem does lower the AC (is that what you meant to ask?) Sanctify should work adjacent to any tile of hell terrain too, but it only effects the AC if it has city ruins within the range of it effects they are destroyed). I'm not sure, but I vaguely remember maybe having a problem using sanctify on tile that were actually on fire, but I think springing them then sanctifying them worked (and then springing again if you don't want deserts that will become burning sands again when hell returns) Rod Jan 13, 2008, 10:55 AM yes, correct, first you need to cast Spring on Burning Sand otherwise Sanctify wont affect Burning Sand. eerr Jan 15, 2008, 06:48 PM demons and orcs can enter flames Pyr0mancer Jan 19, 2008, 02:34 AM Hmm, in my games (0.30f) I can just directly sanctify without putting out the fires first. Also, sanctify has the added bonus of removing the +10% that Demon units get from the Hell terrains. I always have an adept with sanctify with my army when I invade AV civs, to help with Burning Sands and get rid of the city ruins after I raze an AV city. kiaace Mar 07, 2008, 07:32 AM I'm a noob, but i think random things spawn in hellfire terrain so most of the time, i just let the land spread to me then sanctify. xienwolf Mar 07, 2008, 08:26 AM Sect of Flies units spawn from the Hellfire feature. But that is different than the Burning Sands terrain. GePap Mar 07, 2008, 10:05 AM Sanctify reverses hell terrain, so the burning sands would turn back to desert or flood plains, and thus not be on fire. I used sanctify for this very purpose. |
