The manual gives about 2 sentences towards PBEM. I have not noticed any FAQs on line, but if there is one and it answers this question, I will apologize profusely for bugging you (after you give me the link;) ).

Barring that convenience, here's my particular technical question. The prompts at the end of turns suggest that setting up my email name and the email name of the next person should be a one time thing. Doing so will result in a successful email, but I have to do it each time. This is only slightly less annoying than using an out of game email client, and far less slick than auto email.

If a one time setup (per game) can be done and anyone knows how, I would very much appreciate the info.

I only set mine up once, but then it did not work :). There are others who have been successful, but I don't know the details. In the game where I set it up and it did not work, it still gives me the prompt at the end of turn to email it, but I just click cancel. It has definitely remembered MY email, not sure about the other players and their email addresses.

the game can send the save on automatically if your ISP uses an unsecure STMP with a standard port. If it has secured it, then you are out of luck. Yahoo, gmail, hotmail accounts are also out (they secure theirs).

I wrote a small utility (see sig) to take care of this PBEM frustration.

FWIW I figured out what I was doing wrong. You need to set your email address and smtp server *before* you end your turn. Then, when you end your turn, the box for entering your next opponent's info will come up. You only need to enter it once at the end of your first turn and confirm it for later turns.

I was actually able to send to my gmail account, although it would take two tries. (Failure after the first 'ok', click 'ok' again and it would send immediately)

I was testing this on two computers but they are on the same home network so naturally they have the same ISP. I have doubts about this working if I were using my laptop on another network even if it were from the same ISP. So take it with a grain of salt.
