Cannot load BTS. I have civIV on PC under vista when I try to load BTS it fails when installing updates. Can anyone suggest a remedy.

Did you patch Civ 4 before installing BtS? Also is BtS registered in the Control Panel, i.e. could you uninstall it from there?

In answer to your questions no i didn't and no it didn't load. Which patch do I need to load?

you should install the 1.61 patch for civ4 before installing Beyond the Sword (get it here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=3)).

Downloaded 1.51 patch and ran it. It is telling me it cannot locate CivIV on my PC ad won't load. CivIV files saved to C:\programs\take two\sid meier's civilization 4\civilization4.exe which I downloaded and ran from take two web site.
Have tried moving it out of take two directory and running the patch again didn't work.

Any suggestions

I do not have CIV4 downloaded on my C: drive. I moved it to the F: drive. Now when I attempt to install BtS it will not even give me the option of custom install and automatically installs on my C: drive.

Is there anyway around this?

you downloaded the original game? then you need the patches for the download version. Take 2 does not sell those directly, where did you get it from?

the game registers its install path in the windows registry - if you moved the game after installing you'll need to change the registry entries or uninstall and reinstall the game directly to its right location.

I got the game from take 2 digital download

you'll need to get the patch from their website...
