View Full Version : Which subforums would you like to have here? it-ogo Jan 16, 2008, 05:54 AM Forum has grown too big. Which subforums would you like to have here? woodelf Jan 16, 2008, 06:06 AM I can definitely see the need for FFH lore, maps/scenarios, playermade minimods and tweaks, and maybe a wishlist. I don't play multi so I can't offer an opinion there. Marksman77 Jan 16, 2008, 07:00 AM In my personal opinion those would be useful: *maps and scenarios *lore *modmods *technical problems ("what BTS patches do I need to run FfF" or "Civ gives CtD on loading FfH" type of thing) - would be perfect if contained one post where such things would be added in FAQ manner * multi (I don't play, but I think such a subforum would be helpful for those that do) thebeef1980 Jan 16, 2008, 08:05 AM Wishlists merits a thread, not a subforum, shurely? I'd have thought a subforum appropriate for topics that generate a lot of separate threads. xienwolf Jan 16, 2008, 08:12 AM Wishlist would probably be half the threads in the mod-mod forums :) Marksman77 Jan 16, 2008, 08:38 AM ...seeing as it's already half of the threads in the main FfH forum :D Nikis-Knight Jan 16, 2008, 08:56 AM I doubt a need for modmods and maps. Just one for fan-downloads, or something like that. Trouble shooting might not be very busy, but could be quite helpful because those threads tend to get lost but repeated often. it-ogo Jan 16, 2008, 09:19 AM I'm afraid I missed troubleshooting. :( FAQ thread really does not perform this task successfully. Why I divided Maps and Tweaks: first one is for play other one is for gameplay engineering. Feel those as different things. Wishlists IMO should be like a general chat room as it involves most discussions. :D seZereth Jan 16, 2008, 09:44 AM I think a mods combined with maps and scenarios would be brilliant and actually encourage people to produce some more of those ;) and a lore thread or forum would be awesome too. Goodgimp Jan 16, 2008, 11:37 AM Just don't spread the subforums out too much, otherwise it kills traffic. Having to visit multiple subforums to read a handful of posts can be annoying. :) Taels Jan 16, 2008, 12:14 PM I'd love to read a lore forum. It probably wouldn't have a lot of posts, but it would be interesting and flavorful. Add-ons (modmods, maps, and scenarios) would also be great. May I suggest a succession/democracy/hall of fame/roleplaying games forum as well? Rex rgis of Ter Jan 16, 2008, 10:42 PM Wow! It actually happened.  Ekolite Jan 17, 2008, 02:41 AM  Someone write some stuff in the lore forum for us to read. MagisterCultuum? You know lots of lore... woodelf Jan 17, 2008, 05:01 AM If anyone wants to take the time via PM to cut/paste threads and tell me where they should be moved to I'll gladly do it. it-ogo Jan 17, 2008, 06:12 AM If anyone wants to take the time via PM to cut/paste threads and tell me where they should be moved to I'll gladly do it. Well... my initiative should be punished. :D I did not get what exactly is needed? Collection of thread links like: Maps and scenarios: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=258925 ... woodelf Jan 17, 2008, 06:19 AM I'll have to ask TF to add the modpacks/tweaks to the description of maps/scenarios. it-ogo Jan 17, 2008, 08:51 AM Some links from first 4 pages. Not about game mechanics, no? So most of those links probably aren't quite appropriate. And the first link (D&D Campaign) is actually a collection of Lore, not a scenario. woodelf Jan 17, 2008, 09:44 AM Thanks for the links. I do agree that game mechanic info isn't Lore. That subforum is for stories and the world itself. it-ogo Jan 17, 2008, 09:59 AM That were my doubts. First, sometimes it is difficult to separate game info and lore and second, it is nice to have some info links nearby. In any case it is up to you, woodelf. woodelf Jan 17, 2008, 10:09 AM I'll use some judgement and if anyone has a case either way I'm open to moving stuff around. I really hope this spurs some more Lore and playermade stuff. Cuteunit Jan 17, 2008, 10:22 AM If this forum counts as too big, I'd hate to see what your def of just right is.. hehe. It still takes under five minutes to read everything on page 1 that interests me, personally. Organization's nice though... as such I'd really like seeing Civ-specific subforums. Like a subforum entirely dedicated to each choice. As long as Kael checked them for feedback. it-ogo Jan 17, 2008, 12:02 PM Selected from up to March 2007 and I am over. :D Maps&modding Wiser Orcs (a FfH II mod) (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=254369) Challenge: Barbatos Isle (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=254456) Blaze's FfH MaxMod (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=214944) Fall from Heaven: Rise of Mania (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=192096) MOD: Breath of Pestilence (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=213344) FfH Editor: Q&A (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=174493) Changing the Terrain Graphics (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=254882) Lore Fall from Heaven Wiki opened (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=180615) Fall from Heaven PbF campaign (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=251470) does the mod team have a problem with women? I think as it stands things are pretty good, though I anticipate very little that belongs in troubleshooting will wind up being posted there, as often those posts are from new people who won't know better :) Cuteunit Jan 17, 2008, 01:19 PM You're probably right. Ekolite Jan 18, 2008, 01:29 AM Although we could possibly have a subforum for cuteunit to write all her complaints/suggestions in so that we can have other discussions about FFH :p instead of having to listen to cuteunits opinion on enchantment, archers and their general crappyness, the point of the empyrean, whether axemen should be stronger or weaker then warriors etc. ;) it-ogo Jan 18, 2008, 03:06 AM Although we could possibly have a subforum for cuteunit... ...And two subforums for Kol.7... :p Cuteunit Join Date: Sep 2007 Posts: 166 Kol.7 Join Date: Sep 2007 Posts: 317 woodelf Jan 18, 2008, 05:23 AM I'm about done. Thanks it-ogo. A lot of the older tweaks from previous versions are most likely not worth the transfer, but I did most of them anyhow. As we settle into Shadow more and more playermade stuff should be relevant for a lot longer period of time. it-ogo Jan 18, 2008, 05:45 AM Yes, even if some staff is not updated to the last FFH version it is a source of Inspiration an Hope. Taels Jan 18, 2008, 09:30 AM This is great. I've already found several interesting threads I missed in the volume of the main forum. Also, could my Civilopedia thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=258629) remain in the main forum? I'd like it to be visible to new visitors who might not explore the lore forum. woodelf Jan 18, 2008, 09:37 AM This is great. Cool, thanks. Now to add some new features to bump it back up. The volume in the main forum is good for motivation. ;) Cuteunit Jan 18, 2008, 04:16 PM That made me laugh, It-ogo. Thanks ^^ Sureshot Jan 22, 2008, 07:25 PM Tech Tree Reworking (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=6400267#post6400267) that should prolly be moved to modmods forum, thought i saw it there before, surprised to see it back in the main forum heh MagisterCultuum Jan 22, 2008, 07:31 PM Well, right now there isn't a modmod forum, just a Map & Scenario suborum that says it is also for mini-mods and tweaks. Personally I'd rather have the modmods and tweaks in a separate subforum, but it isn't a big deal. woodelf Jan 23, 2008, 11:38 AM Tech Tree Reworking (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=6400267#post6400267) that should prolly be moved to modmods forum, thought i saw it there before, surprised to see it back in the main forum heh Moved . |
