HEY !!!!
This group did so well getting me up and playing BTS :goodjob: so I thought I'd see if anyone can help me now. ;)

I installed BTS with the retail version ...but am afraid of scratching the cd each time I have to put it in the drive to play the game.
Is there a way around this??? I don't want my cd1 to get scratched up.

Hope HELP is on the way

I'm a little unsure about the legality of it, but there's a couple of websites with no cd keys.

<snip>

Use at your own risk! As stated, I'm unsure of the current legality of using no cd keys and Lord knows I don't want to upset Sid!

NO links to no-cd sites are acceptable here!

Yes. That modname error has something to do with CD protection.
No CD, no error message.
Mind you, it is my original CD, not a copy.

Please note: While even Firaxis recognizes the occasional need for a no-cd patch, it is almost guaranteed that a site linked to on a web forum will really be a piracy site. Therefore, we don't allow the links on our site. 'Nuff said.

I hear ya Padma....which is why I am reluctant to use that patch.
I was really hoping someone would tell me how to copy my Original cd so that I could use the dupe in the cd drive and keep my original in case I ever need to do a re-install. I have heard some games allow the pwner tp make a copy for just such a reason.

I had the same problem with my legit copy of BTS. It would only load one in about 12 times. I finally had to resort to a no-CD fix. But here's the thing... the fix introduced errors into the game. I found that the best way to get rid of the ~df349b.tmp error was to update my out of date CD-rom driver. No problems now, and Sid isn't going to be ticked with me.

A no-CD patch is NOT piracy as long as you own the game. There is nothing wrong with you using one (assuming you own the game) and it is very simple to do.

Padma was saying that those sites often help or offer links to pirate sites. There is nothing wrong with those sites in themselves, but the content they link to may be considered piracy. Like I said above, if you own the game a no-CD patch is NOT piracy and NOT illegal by any means.
