Dark_Ownage Jan 20, 2008, 10:33 PM Well I made a post 2 months ago asking various questions and got no answers figured I just would have to wait it's been 2 months no responses so now I have learned my lesson and must change the way I ask questions I will now; bump my topic every 5 minutes until I got an answer AND right my question in all capitals! Okay here we go! (takes deep breath)
I AM RUNNING
VISTA BASIC
1 GIG OF RAM
ATI MOBILITY X1800 256MB
CORE 2 DUO 2.66GHZ
I PLAY ON HUGE MAPS WITH MAX PLAYERS EVEYTHING GOES GOOD UNTIL FURTHER INTO THE GAME IT STARTS TO LAG I ASSUME THIS IS NORMAL DUE TO THE LARGE AMOUNT OF MEN ON THE MAP BUT I CAN LEAVE THE ROOM AND COME BACK AN HOUR LATER AND THE LAG WILL JUST BE RIDICULOUS EVEN THOUGH NOTHING HAS CHANGED IN THE GAME THIS ALSO HAPPENS IF I RELOAD THE GAME IF I SAVE IT WHEN I LOAD A GAME IT LAGS RIDICUOULOY FOREVER. I CAN PLAY OBLIVION WITH THE GRAFIX ON HIGH ANTI ALIAS 3 BUT I CANT PLAY CIV4 WITH ANTI ALIAS 0 WITHOUT LAG? SOMETHINGS WRONG MAYBYE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH DUAL CORE?

Conroe Jan 21, 2008, 11:27 AM Well I made a post 2 months ago asking various questions and got no answers I'm curious ... your "join date" shows as Jan 2008. How did you post this 2 months ago? And is it possible that you received no reply, because nobody who read your post knew the answer? Remember, this is not a company owned website. We are fellow players, just like you, who try to help out when we can.
As for me, I have no clue how to resolve your issue. In the back of your manual was a telephone number for tech support. My suggestion would be to give the company a call. Not the best answer, I know. And I apologize, but I don't have Vista, or a laptop, or a dual core. Nor do I play huge maps with max civs. So sadly I do not have much experience to draw upon ...
it's been 2 months no responses so now I have learned my lesson and must change the way I ask questions I will now; bump my topic every 5 minutes until I got an answer AND right my question in all capitals! So when asking for free help from complete strangers, you feel that being rude is a better approach than being polite? ;)
thanks alot guys.You're welcome!
auldian Jan 21, 2008, 04:00 PM i drove down to the best buy down my road and returned it to themA Dan Quayle victory, at best.
ecc Jan 21, 2008, 04:57 PM error in text
ecc Jan 21, 2008, 05:00 PM Returning the game simply because you're having a technical issue isn't the smartest thing to do. There are several threads in tech support, people with similar issues using different methods to fix problems. I could have listed a few things but since you don't own the game anymore, I suppose it is pointless to now.:shifty:
T.A JONES Jan 21, 2008, 05:34 PM Okay i'm sorry this is just making me insane I minimize it says I'm using 70 percent of ram Im using a whole 1 gig stick so that should nto be a problem 2.66 dual core procecor ati x1800gt have no problem playing thrw the whole game on high until like the year 1700-1900 then boom ,laaaaaag laaaaag laaag i even tried seting grafix to low resolution to lowest and my grfx card to performance max lag lag lag please for he love of god someone help me
Man I don't blame you for being at wits end. You got the best dam system you thought money could buy( mybe a year ago) and can't play a game designed in mid to early 2005.
Dam you know its a ram thing but You look and hes even got a 256mb feed coming from the graphics card. So this is proof how far it reaches when you want a semi realistic experience I guess (unless you play a New world Order sceanario, then only 8 -12 nations is realistic. :) )
Here I hope this helps. " I fixed the MAF error
If you hear people sayin 1 gig is enough for this game they are crazy or never played a normal sized map( huge) so don't listen to em. Even if they say their a programmer or work for firexis. Trust the average Joes with feild reports behind their belt, not some 'general theory' some 'know it all' may tout.
Truth is, you can play civ4 on the best CPU to date but if your bringin a gig to the show you mind as well know your in for one slow go on any huge map. Im talkin lagfest 2008
Lets not forget even huge has been shrinked from the Civ games of the past so is it really to much to ask, a rig thats killed the 'REC' specs to run 300 turns past. Its certainly not a 'stretch' right? ;) ..Atleast say on the box this game can't hack huge maps ON 90% OF the TOTAL MARKET SPECS!!..cause thats what it comes down to im afraid. Most are excluded from flawless DEFAULT HUGE..Dam nevermid bigger via modded size and greater content.
Light-Giver Jan 21, 2008, 06:33 PM the game always lags alittle for me, just dont zoom out to much, i find it usefull to zoom in when it starts to lag, but i guess its pointless now.
T.A JONES Jan 22, 2008, 12:17 AM Oh, opps I didn't see the part where he returned it. Oh well the link I offered may help someone I hope. ANyway Smart move man.
You complained with you wallet . If 1 tenth had done the same we might have promised are selves a better civ5 in the end. Bah, we'll see how it goes
