I've looked everywhere, but i couldn't find any posts in relation to this particular error that i'm getting.

Today i got a new computer with Vista already installed, and as you already have guessed Civilization IV won't install.

This error appears just after i select my language (English) at the very beginning of the installation process.

Error Code: -5003 : 0x5
Error Information:
>SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (1799)
PAPP:Sid Meier's Civilization 4
PVENDOR:Firaxis Games (http://www.2kgames.com/civ4/)
PGUID:CFBCE791-2D53-4FCE-B3FB-D6E01F4112E8
$11.0.0.28844
@Windows XP Service Pack 2 (2600) IE 7.0.6000.16575

I was under the impression that it was compatible with Vista, also why does it mention XP in the error? I'm clueless with these sorts of things.

Also for what its worth i have a NVIDIA graphics card.

Cheers.

SetupDLL.cpp (1799) appears to be an installshield issue.
If luck's on your side, rebooting the computer, unplugging from the internet, disabling your antivirus/spyware/etc., and then navigating to the setup.exe on the Civ disc and double-clicking it may work.
If not, renaming your installshield folders temporarily to "installshieldold" for instance, has been successful sometimes.

Unfortunately i tried everything you said with no luck.

In regards to the InstallShield, i found one folder in my C:/ named "InstallShield Installation Information" and renamed that one.

I'm not sure if i got the correct folder? This is extremely annoying. Thanks for you input anyway.

Googling may turn up more for that error. I found several hits under the old XP operating system but nothing detailed to help in Vista. You may need to go to 2K or Macrovision for some support on this.
Let us know if you get it resolved.

Thought i should let you guys know. This is pretty random, the whole error was caused because the InstallShield folder was hidden.

Pretty random stuff, firstly i didn't hide it and secondly i don't see how the should effect how the program is run.
