I'm playing my first OCC and I must say it's very interesting! Pretty different from a standard game. As this is my first game, I wanted to post a save to see if I'm even close to on the right track. Please hit me with criticism- you won't hurt my feelings. ;)

My biggest concerns are-

1. Diplomacy. I am a different religion than my neighbors. Seems dangerous considering I will have a smaller production base.

2. Military. Related to #1. I have none. So if my heathen neighbors attack I'm done.

3. Health. Seems like it will be an issue shortly. What to do?

4. Religion. Should I invest hammers in missionaries or just ignore religion?

There are probably other issues as well. Anyway, any advice?

depend on what your goal is. is it cultral, domination, ect.. still not to bad. drop your religion so you don't get the negative marks.

Can you win via Cultural in OCC? So by dropping my religion I lose the +25% production bonus in OR. That hit is worth the diplomatic help?

I just want to make sure I'm understanding correctly.

You seem fine. everyone has different religions. If you really want to stay peaceful, bribe mao to war. It's probably too late to spread religion.

You probably should have some more hills, and grow a bit larger when you can.
Once you're done with wonders, run philosophy.

You got globe theatre pretty early, when I think you enough happy resources.

Nobody has even crossbows, so quick production of some spears/axes would protect you from an unlikely backstab.

Ok, couple of rookie questions.

1. Why bribe Mao specifically? Shouldn't I just try to get wars going between the other 3 generally?

2. What does 'run philosophy' mean? That is not a civic is it?

I am posting another save in case you have time to look at it. I cancelled my state religion and am working on the Hermitage now. Not sure how important culture is but if seems important to protect my resources. Probably I'm overdoing it.

By run philosophy i'm sure he means run pacifism for the extra gpp

Yeah, pacifism.

If you have a lot of wonders, it's very unlikely other cities can threaten your cultural borders.

When I checked the game, and the others weren't bribable.

Cultural's only possible through a loophole: if you manage to get a permanent alliance, his cities count as your for win conditions. Basically you have to plan that from the start.

Oh yeah, health, trade for resources, grocers help mid game. Later on you can run environmentalism or get a hospital/recycling plant.

Ungh... You have 2 axemen and 1 spearman for defense. How are you prepared if Khan decides to attack you and drops 15 keshiks on your land? You rushed for liberalism, picked up Nationalism as a freebie and then started building... Hermitage??? What happened to Taj Mahal? What resources are you "protecting", I don't really see a reason for hermitage?
