What should I use? Celtic stuff? I'm wondering what to use for the archer, swordsman, horseman and spearman slots. Does anyone have any opinions on this?

Celtic Units (Ancient, specifically R8XFT's Iceni units may be worth looking at!)-> Roman Units (Late Ancient)-> Germanic Units (Dark Ages)-> English Units (1066 onwards, I'd say.)

Ill take a look at Anno Domini thanks for the idea Virote. Tough decision this is. Anyone else have any opinions?

I think you should also look at "The Rood and the Dragon", perhaps with Celtic units as the "default" graphics, but then the graphics change to Germanic upon reaching the Middle Ages (without any new units)

And the Pictish swordsman would work lovely for a very early unit :)

I think I'll do as follows:

Utah's Pictish Warrior: Warrior and Tribal Guardian
Sandris Javelin Thrower: Archer
Sandris Celtic Spearman: Spearman
Firaxis Gallic Swordsman: Swordsman
Bebro's Celtic Chariot: Chariot

Any idea what I could use for a horseman?

Lorenzarius done some alterations to Bebro's chariots to resize them :)

For a plain horseman, I'd use Utah's Slavic Horseman

Hmm... try to search for him :)

Edit: That horsemans shield isn't very celtic though. I'll search for a different one :)

Edit2: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=1835929&postcount=5 This?

Edit3: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=96140 And this is the chariot link :)

I agree if you're only looking for ancient celtic units, but I think it works well for Dark Age units

What do you mean by "ancient England"? There was no England until the Middle Ages. If you mean ancient Britain then roughly Celtic-looking units would probably work best. But the Pictish Warrior would be quite wrong for anyone other than the Picts.

That would be for or against giving them the Pictish Warrior Plotinus? Maybe a better fit would be another one of Sandris celts, maybe an early one?

Hmm, in my opinion the inhabitants of ancient Britain were Celtic Britton tribes (Dumnonii, Iceni, Brigantes, Trinovantes, Belgae, Silures, Cornovii, Ordovices, Caledonii, Parisi, Catuvellauni, Coritanni, Durotriges etc.) and they were looking something like that:

http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/59402/brittons.jpg

They are already in my list, but til I make them you could use Iceni/Celtic units.

Another idea would be Angles, Saxons and Jutes, who not yet settled over to britain, i. e. germanic style units. So the choice is: The people who lived in the territory of later england or the people who became the english.

Edit: Have you changed the civs from your latest version? How many civs will use celtic/germanic units? That could be a thing to be considered, too.

The civs are the same pretty much. As of yet I have yet to put in any flavor units for the various european civs other than england(aside from the knights and jets and such).

I need everyone's opinion regarding:

Spain
Germany
Austria
Poland
Russia
France

and what units each should get in the ancient age.

Virote_Considon

I'd say they should go along this flavor line:

Spain:
Celtic -> Roman -> Germanic (Dark Ages) -> Spanish/Arabic (Medieval)-> Spanish (Medieval)

Germany:
Germanic -> German (Medieval)

Austria:
Germanic -> German (Medieval)-> Austrian (Late Medieval)

Poland:
Germanic -> Slavic (Dark Ages) -> Polish (Medieval)

Russia:
Scythian/Slavic -> Slavic (Dark Ages) -> Russian (Medieval)

France:
Celtic -> Germanic (Dark Ages) -> French (Medieval)

Remember it has to be:

Archer, Swordsman, Warrior, Horseman, Spearman. Those are the five main ancient units.

For the dark ages I have:

Cataphract, Advanced Archer.
